Sunnyside defeated Chandler North 12-0 in four innings Tuesday night to advance to the winner’s bracket final of the Arizona Little League Majors State Tournament at the Tempe Sports Complex.
Sunnyside will play Thursday at 6 p.m. against Queen Creek, which beat Oro Valley 4-3 in seven innings on Tuesday night. The winner between Sunnyside and Queen Creek will advance to the winner-take-all championship game Saturday.
All nine spots in Sunnyside’s lineup scored against Chandler North as the team tallied 10 hits.
Ezequiel “Checka” Lorta, Carlos Rodriguezand Luis Zazuetafinished with two RBIs. Lorta and Rodriguez also tripled.
Christian Moran, Jancito Preciado, Joshua Valenzuelaand Eli Uriasalso drove in runs.
Sabino Gonzalezwas the winning pitcher, allowing four hits in four innings with four strikeouts and two walks. Only once did a runner advance to third base.
