The NHSCA High School Nationals, featuring some of the best high school wrestlers in the nation, took place at Virginia Beach, Va., this weekend and Sunnyside junior Sergio Vegaand Morenci senior John Provencioemerged as champions.
Vega capped a 4-0 run with a major-decision 10-1 victory over Jayce Paridonof Orlando, Fla., in the 138-pound junior finals.
Provencio’s 3-1 decision over Daniel Arandaof Orlando, Fla., ended his 5-0 run through the senior 132-pound competition.
