Star Wars is coming soon in case you haven’t noticed. My geeky husband and oldest daughter are both drooling over all the Star Wars products in the stores now.  If you’ve ever wanted to do a Star Wars themed Christmas, this is the year. You can buy it or you can make it but Darth Vader wants to ring in the season with you.  I prefer homemade.  This weekend we’re going to be making Star Wars christmas yard decorations. But if you need a smaller Star Wars christmas decoration, I can help you with that as well. Homemade Star Wars ornaments made from cinnamon doughThese were some of my favorite ornaments to make last year. You won’t believe how easy they are to create and they dry really hard.  All you need is a recipe for Cinnamon Dough – which will make your house smell so good you’ll want to lick your kitchen cabinets.  You can find a recipe for cinnamon dough here – Cinnamon Dough Recipe for Cinnamon Ornaments.  The second part to these are simply Star Wars cookie cutters. You can find them on Williams-Sonoma.com.   The great news is that you can use the cookie cutters year round for actual cookies, fondant for cakes or even playdoh. Darth Vader cinnamon dough ornamentAnd did I mention they smell nice? They’d be a great gift to send to a college guy who lives in a smelly dorm room.  If you’re looking for a homemade Star Wars gift check out this tool belt I made for Mr. Byrd many years ago. starwarstoolbeltI sewed the tool belt using some black duck cloth but if you’re not a sewer than you’re still in luck! You can buy any dark colored tool belt and add the decorations using freezer paper stencils. You can download a Star Wars font – called Star Jedi- from dafont.com . Print your phrase onto the non shiney side of freezer paper. Cut out the words and iron it on to make a stencil.  I did a similar thing with Darth Vader. Freezer paper stenciling is easy and a great way to make handmade gifts if you don’t have a vinyl cutter.  But what if you just want to buy it?  No problem, this is the year to buy Star Wars products! Check out this sweater for an ugly christmas sweater party – star wars ugly christmas sweater   And then Mr. Byrd commented on how awesome this sweater is.   Star Wars Men’s Snow Flight Sweater.  But if you want Star Wars on your christmas tree without having to make anything, check out these R2D2 christmas lights. star wars christmas lights r2d2   And if you really want to go all out with the Star Wars christmas spirit in a really big way, check out this Darth Vader inflatable yard decoration. Screen Shot 2015-11-19 at 10.56.09 PMPlease do not show this to my husband or I will have an expensive 6ft tall Darth Vader in my yard.  It’s time to ring the bells, deck the halls, and get your geek on.  May the (christmas) force be with you.
