Retreat + First Meeting of Spring Term!

Last weekend, GlobeMed at Dartmouth held a retreat for all of its staff members at the Class of 1966 Lodge along the Appalachian Trail in New Hampshire.

The retreat involved a short hike along the AT, ice breakers, t-shirt making, a short crisis simulation, and group bonding games around the fire.

Using cardboard cut-outs and bleach, each member made a t-shirt bearing the GlobeMed logo. We are all extremely proud of our t-shirts!

After dinner, we had an hour-long poverty simulation, in which groups of 3 members had to “survive” the hour by “earning” money in order to build a shelter and buy food. The activity was very useful in helping us better understanding the dire conditions that the refugees along the Thai-Burma face on a daily basis.

We ended off the night playing games like Mafia and Charades around the fireside, which were fun bonding activities.

On Monday, April 2, GlobeMed at Dartmouth held its first general meeting for the Spring term. More than 50 students, many of whom were new, attended the meeting. Co-President Leigh Ann Humphries introduced the club, e-board and our partner organization. She also announced that elections will be held in the coming weeks.
