Staff Meeting 5/6/13

Congratulations to the E-Board for 2013-2014 and the 13X E-Board!

Nikki and Angela noted that we have another Haven visit this Wednesday (May 8th!) from 3:30-6:30. So far, Ellen, Melissa, and Julia will be going, but we still need 1-2 more people to sign up!

Finance Update: Crepes: $185, Tie-Dye: $540, Individual Giving: $339… Total: $9843!!! – we’re above our goal!

Adam brought up something new for next year – we got a Listserv for ourselves.

To join the Listserv:

i. go to bwa.dartmouth.edu

ii. go to “Options” on the top right

iii. press “See all options”

iv. on left hand side, click “Groups” and then click join

v. in search groups, search “GlobeMed” and join “GlobeMed List”

Andy updated on Individual Giving. We’re still in first place for the Mother’s Day campaign! It ends next Sunday at midnight. Also, Andy discussed the COSO Awards: the deadline for nominations is a week from today (next Monday) so please nominate GlobeMed for as many titles as you’d like! (preferably for Organization of the Year, Best Fundraiser, or anything else you want)

Melissa presented on a non-profit in Tanzania called APOPO is training African rats to detect TB in people (linking the scent of TB to a reward, such as mashed bananas). With the minimal resources they have, this is a very effective way to provide detection.

In addition, Lipsa presented on her internship at Boston Center of Refugee Health and Human Rights this past winter. Lipsa assisted social workers in organizing medical and legal appointments for clients à disparity in their knowledge of their healthcare back home and of the U.S. healthcare system.

For the last ten-fifteen minutes of the meeting, Kristina and Yesha organized photographs to create a scrapbook for KWAT so that they can get to know us better!
