Dahee Yun is an award-winning filmmaker and new DePauw professor teaching filmmaking . She'll present and screen some of her short film work, then answer questions during a Q&A session. Dahee Yun was born and raised in South Korea and received an MFA in Film from Syracuse University in New York. Her films often explore stories about the ambivalence of invisibility, vulnerability, floating, dreams, and experiences of being a woman and an immigrant. She also talks about animal issues and coexistence with nature in her work, and her practices as a filmmaker pay attention to creating an ethical filmmaking environment.

The last film by Yasujiro Ozu was also his final masterpiece, a gently heartbreaking story about a man’s dignified resignation from life’s shifting currents and society’s modernization. Though the widower Shuhei (frequent Ozu leading man Chishu Ryu) has been living comfortably for years with his grown daughter, a series of events leads him to accept and encourage her marriage and departure from their home. As elegantly composed and achingly tender as any of the Japanese master’s films, An Autumn Afternoon is one of cinema’s fondest farewells.

This 2022-released horror/drama film written and directed by Paul Shoulberg and based on the novel by Michael Korytawas was shot in French Lick, Indiana, in the vast, historic, Shining-esque hotel, West Baden, produced by Bloomington Indiana-based production company Pigasus Pictures . In the film, an ambitious documentary filmmaker falls ever deeper into the disturbing history of the place, while trying to unearth the truth, both about one of the area’s most infamous inhabitants and herself. After the screening, Paul Shoulberg will hold a Q & A with the audience.
