Health and wellness tourism is the next big approach in Indonesia, specifically in Bali with the government creating two free zone health facilities with state-of-the-art facilities.
WTN Chairwoman Mudi Astuti, who is the organizer said: “We are excited to help launch this new discussion with our prime partners after laying the groundwork at our TIME 2023 summit in Bali in September. This will be a chance for many World Tourism Network members around the world to be a part of.”
Health and wellness in Bali was on the agenda at the successfully concluded TIME2023, the first global summit by the World Tourism Network in September.
Experts from the World Tourism Network, the Indonesia Health Tourism Board (IHTPB), Earth Heat Holistic Consultancy, as well as the World Council of Health Asia, will participate in a panel discussion on Friday to shape this foundation into a sellable product.
Dr. I Gede Wiryana Patra Jaya, M kes, Chairman of the Bali Medical Tourism Association together with the Indonesian Ministry of Health and top officials for the Government of Bali Tourism Office will set the floor for two high-level panel discussions on Friday.

Indonesia is getting ready to change its tourism concept. While Bali is not typically considered a primary destination for health tourism, the island has been increasingly recognized for wellness and holistic experiences.
Bali offers a range of wellness retreats, spa resorts, and yoga retreats that attract visitors seeking relaxation, rejuvenation, and holistic health experiences. Many resorts and spas on the island provide services such as traditional Balinese massages, yoga and meditation classes, detox programs, and healthy cuisine.
With this initiative, Bali is now on the way to develop into an international destination for medical tourism.
