Hong Kong ‘s annual Lunar New Year parade is set to make a comeback after a five-year hiatus, with organizers announcing it will feature the largest-ever number of international performing groups.
The event, scheduled for February 10, coinciding with the first day of the Year of the Dragon, is expected to draw approximately 150,000 spectators, with tourists making up at least 30 percent of the audience.
The Hong Kong Tourism Board expressed confidence in attracting residents and tourists, emphasizing the inclusion of 16 international and 13 local performance groups, including acts from Japan, Spain, and Germany.
The parade was last held in 2019 and was canceled in subsequent years due to anti-government protests and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite recent declines in tourist numbers, the board remains optimistic about the event’s success.
