Uzbekistan’s Air Samarkand is now closer to commencing charter flights and scheduled services after obtaining the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of the Uzbekistan Ministry of Transport.
The airline’s adherence to the country’s aviation laws and international safety standards, as stipulated by the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation, has been confirmed in the announcement. This confirmation comes after inspectors from the Uzbekistan Ministry of Transport conducted a comprehensive audit of the airline’s technical documents, equipment, aircraft systems, flight preparations, and the qualifications of the flight and ground staff.
The CEO of Air Samarkand , expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Transport and the UzAviation Agency for thoroughly evaluating their readiness for flights. He stated that Air Samarkand is now closer to launching services from the remarkable and historic city of Samarkand. All preparations have been completed and everything is set for this milestone.
The airline has obtained its own ‘UZS’ code from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), along with the radio call sign ‘Samarkand’.
According to Air Samarkand’s Chief Executive, during the past year, the airline has been meticulously crafting its business strategy while simultaneously assembling a skilled airline leadership team and a proficient flight and cabin crew. The aim is to offer customers an outstanding in-flight experience. With determined goals for expansion, Air Samarkand intends to swiftly provide secure, direct, and top-notch services to an increasing number of Asian and European cities as it scales up its operations.
Air Samarkand plans to commence its operations by offering charter flights from the second-largest city in Uzbekistan. Following this, they will introduce scheduled services in the Spring season, connecting to various popular destinations such as Turkey, points in south-east Asia, China, and more. Additionally, within the first year of operations, Air Samarkand aims to expand its reach by establishing connections between Samarkand and popular European cities.
Air Samarkand has already initiated the expansion of its fleet by acquiring a remarkable selection of contemporary, secure, and fuel-efficient Airbus planes. In the previous month, Air Samarkand took delivery of its initial long-haul wide-bodied aircraft, the Airbus A330-300, as well as an A321 narrow-body airliner for short and medium-haul flights.
