- If your Google Pay balance is set up to pay businesses , you can add money with a debit card.
*You can’t use a bank account to send money to someone who:
- Doesn’t have the new Google Pay app
- Doesn’t allow people to search for them
You can still send them money with a debit card or your Google Pay balance.

Send or receive money with friends and family
You can send money to friends and family with your:
- Google Pay balance
- To use Google Pay balance, verify your identity .
- Debit card
- Bank account
- You can't use a bank account to send money to someone who doesn't have the new Google Pay app or doesn't allow people to search for them. You can still send them money with a debit card or your Google Pay balance.
Money you receive from friends and family appears as money in Google Pay. If you verified your identity , you can access your Google Pay balance. This can be used to pay friends and family. Learn more about Google Pay balance .
Add money to your Google Pay balance
After you verify your identity, you can add money to your Google Pay balance with your bank account. If you haven’t verified your identity, you can’t add money to your Google Pay balance. Learn how to verify your identity .
Tip:Since bank account transfers can take up to 3–5 days, you may want to add money to your Google Pay balance a few days earlier than needed.
Transfer money out of Google Pay
Important:Bank account transfer takes 1–3 business days to complete.
You can transfer money out of Google Pay to a bank account or debit card. There’s a fee of 1.5% fee or $.31 USD (whichever is higher) when you transfer out money with a debit card.
