I am just learning how to ride and have two bikes lined up to look at but I'm not sure if I should go with the 250 or 650. I'm 135 lb and I'm 5'6". Any suggestions?

The 250 will be fairly easy for you to handle and you'll pick up everything quicker. My first bike was a Ninja 650, I bought it in Feb of this year. Went to the parking lot to practice, and dropped it 4 times because the weight was weird. Then crashed two days later because the BF decided to take me down a road a probably wasn't used to. But that probably can't be attributed to the size of the bike. That being said, if I'd have gotten a 250, I'd be super frustrated now. I've gotten incredibly fast (logged 12,000 miles, 10 track days this year) and can keep up with all the guys on our Sunday rides, for the most part. The only thing holding me back is the 650 engine, when they're all sporting at least 950cc's. You'll learn faster on the 250, but the 650 will last you longer. If you can afford to buy a new bike in 6-12 months, start on the 250, you'll be so happy you did. If you can't, get the 650 and take your time learning on it. Good luck, and keep the shiny side up!

Bike Size by: Katie
That is a tough question and only you can answer it. My first bike is a 650GSXF I have dropped it but we have come to an agreement and like each other very much now! I am glad I went with the 650 as everyone I ride with has much bigger bikes and we go out often. I am 5 10 and large boned so it has worked out well. This wont be my last bike. My next one will be even bigger and who knows what it will be.
I personally am glad I got a 650 it will get me through the next few years until I get a different bike!
