I am 18 years old and i am absolutely terrified to drive a car. I love dirtbikes, four wheelers, and motorcycles. So i have decided to get motorcycle license. The problem is i have no idea what motorcycle would be the best for me. I am almost 5'6 and weigh 100 lbs. i am 30 lbs underweight and i am not that strong. my legs are way stronger than my arms. my arms are like little chicken arms. i am afraid of big motorcycles. i want something little that i know i can be in control of. i would love some ideas of motorcycles that would work for me. also i would be riding it every day to work and for fun, basically ALL the time. Also i am not experienced on a motorcycle. i usually ride with my step-dad on his. i love the sporty looking motorcycles because for some reason i find them sexy. I also like the retro looking ones but sporty ones are my favorite.
Comments for 18 years old, 100 lbs, motorcycle type for me?!?

I would agree that the suzuki 250 or the Honda 250 is a perfect starter bike. However, look at the suzuki S40. I f you are really serious about doing this, you will do just fine on the S40. Not much difference in the frame size and you will not outgrow it and will keep it for life.. I am 73 and speak from experience. You will quickly outgrow those real little bikes and you must have enough speed to ride in the traffic and streets..safe riding girls.

I started in the Honda Rebel. It is easy to handle, light weight, and confidence inspiring. Plus you can pick up a used one for cheap and when you are ready to sell it for a bigger bike you will probably get your money back.
It would definitely work for you.

I suggest you look at a ninja for a sport bike, and a suzuki 650. Both bikes are light and easy to learn on. You may want to consider the style of riding that you prefer, before you go looking at different models.

My first motorcycle was a Honda Rebel 250. I am tall but small in size. I needed a lighter bike to learn on and gain experience with before moving up to a larger one. A 250 is a great learner bike. I had driven lots of small dirt bikes before but never any highway driving util I got the Rebel. Being on the open road requires a great deal of attention and having a bike you can control is important.
