I bought this bike from a friend in 2008. It has been an awesome bike as it has lots of power, sits low, and has great maneuverability. Starts every time, great gas consumption and keeps up with all my Harley friends. This has been an awesome starter bike. I am keeping this bike in hopes of one of my kids wanting to ride. My next bike will be a springer.

To the comment about the virago 700. This law only took place in the states and thus the Canadian riders still had the 748cc engine aka xv750.. My main gripe about about these bikes (having owned an 84 myself for 5 years now) is how inaccessible the carbs are to work on.

Oh and another point about the Virago. They are now the V-Star. Hehe

To your comment on the modifications. In 1983 Harley Davidson freaked out, as the Virago 750 outsold Harley, so the applied a tarif on any bike over 700 cc's. So in 84 the Virago became a 700. Mine sits low, and has the power to keep up. And your'e right they will withstand almost anything you can throw at them. Cheap to maintain, and easy to work on. There is a whole club dedicated to Virago's, lol.

I adore the Viragos. I ride a 1995 Virago 535xv, and my partner rides a 1981 Virago 750. They must have made a lot of modifications to the 750 between 1981 (when they released it) and 1984 (the year of yours) because one major difference I noticed in those bikes is how very tall the bike is. If I sit on the seat of the 750, I can't even reach the ground. In fact, the bike sits so tall that I can't move it in and out of the garage and put it back on the kickstand! It balances too high, and I can't hold it upright to put the kickstand back on.
But Viragos are great machines. The last Virago I knew was also a 1995 535 (not mine but my partner's old bike), and that bike was a workhorse. He rode it through snow in NJ, desert conditions in AZ, and everywhere in between, and it just kept on ticking! He only sold it because it cost more to ship it cross country then to get back to the east coast and buy a new one (which he promptly did, replacing it with the 750).
I LOVE VIRAGOS. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!

I wish that I still had my first bike, just for sentimental reasons.
