My Ural was built in the Ural mountains of Siberia. The Urals have quite a history. They were designed by the Germans to use in the war. They are a take off of the old BMW R71. You can fit 3 people on the bike and carry guns and add a spot light on the side car. Well I dont carry guns or fight in a war. I can carry the camping gear, X-tra fuel and a ballast monkey . i can do alot of grocery shopping on my bike. It will go off road . In fact, it loves the old pitted gravel and dirt roads. Right now I cant see riding anything else except a Ural Patrol which is 2WD and then I can drive in the snow.

I have a 100 lb Akita. No little dogs in my side car.
This bike will go off road. It was built to fight a war. This bike was built in the Ural mountains of Siberia . There are roads in Siberia that only a horse or a Ural will go. So with that in mind to the HUH I can go in the back woods and camp and go where some of the other 2 wheel bikes are unable. I wouldn't judge as some of the Harley guys have come over and spoken with me and are even thinking of getting one as their second bike that they can go back woods camping and hunting. They even come in 2WD and can be driven in the snow. Side cars are so much fun as you can do all your grocery shopping and take more clothes & gear on a long ride.
I love my bike and I guess whatever makes a person happy and my Ural makes me smile.

Thanks for sharing! We have several people in our area with sidecars. One is very modern with a hinged hardtop cap w/vent & another is the open old style. Each carries dogs as passengers. The 2 yorkies that travel in the open version both wear goggles. A really cute sight.

I believe they are making them new again. There's dedicated Ural enthusiasts here in Australia. Great Bike. I had a Goldwing and double sidecar when my boys were babies. Means you can just keep riding. Enjoy yours.

I need a sidecar for my dog. He loves my motorcycle but he is 100 lbs. I wish I had a sidecar because I know he would be going everywhere with me. peanutvirago@yahoo.com
