I'm a great Grand-ma, but have been riding on the back since the early 70's. At 58 I decided it was about time for me to move to the front. I love sport bikes, have always loved sport bike, I'm kinda a speed demon.
My first bike was a 250 Ninja, 2nd bike was a Yamaha FZ-600, and recently stepped up to a FZ-1.
If your short like me (5'4") and like the look and the feel of a sport bike then this is the bike for you. It can be lowered, which my husband has done (1' in back 3/4" in front), you can add bags if you like to tour which I do. It's not to top heavy, which means you can handle it And it will do twisties all day with the big boys.

Yes go for it! It is great to read about all the 'mature' 50 plus women riding bikes. I ride a HD 883 Sportster and love it. The winters here in the Kootenays (BC Canada) are too long I can't wait to hit the road again!

What an inspiration! I just got my motorcycle license last August. I can't wait to purchase my first bike! Hopefully, very soon. I have my mind set on a cruiser; never even contemplated a sporty bike. Hmmmm...may just have to at least sit on one ;)
Stay safe and happy riding!

It's so good to see other mature women riding their own bikes. I'm 54 yrs old, rode behind my husband for 31 years, now riding my own since 2007. Keep smiling and ride safe!

I love seeing women our (54 here) age who know how to live!
Nice Ride!
I have a CBR600 that will scream as well. (but I must confess, I ride my Harley more often and have just purchased a dual sport for dirt).
It's a blast when the guys are like DANG she can ride! Way to go Sis!

Barbara, I am 58 and great grandmother. Loved your article! I ride a V-Star 650 Custom Cruiser. My favorite thing is to just hit the road and GO! This cold weather is killing me! Anyway we'll get to ride soon. I'm down here in North Central Tx. Keep the rubber side down! And keep on ridin! Woo hoo!
