I'm a beginner rider. I just got my first bike (a Yamaha V-Star 650 cc Classic, 2007), and I'm wondering, regarding next winter, what's the procedure for self storage (ie, how do I store it in my garage until spring 2011)? Thanks.

Motorcycle Winter Storage

Good idea. Problem is (a) I live in an apartment building and don't have a garage and (b) The place I'll be storing it in is a 1 1/2 hr drive northwest of where I live. I live full time in my home city and work here full time, too. Any suggestions?

Very simple. Once a week go out to the garage, start the bike, let it warm up ...rev it up couple time to 5000-6000 rpm...let it run 3-4 minutes. This pumps the oil, gas and keeps the battery charged. This also keeps the bike from feeling lonely and ignored. Also helps you spirits a little.

Hi there,
There's a really good video on youtube drivennanridden.com on how to winterize your motorcycle. Good luck!
