I just got a ninja 2009 250R. I have never ridden a bike before. I live in Michigan and will not be putting anymore miles on my bike It will have a total of 35 miles by the time I am done learning to ride, before the winter. Do I need to winterize or can I just start it up now and then? Or, I do have room to put it inside my house? I know it sounds weird but I am totally lost and I do not want anything to happen to my new bike Thanks!!

Winterizing

I would suggest contacting a dealer, who would know what is very best for the bike, and also what products to use to do it. Some people may not know the correct things to do. I always ask a professional. Happy Winter!

Hi Amy,
How do you like your Ninja? I've seen the new model and they're pretty neat! I had a Ninja 250 but it was the older model. Great bike!
Anyway, I'm sure you're looking around on the Internet but I figured I'd copy a few sites that I found:

This next website is from a guy who lives in Michigan. If I were you, I'd contact him and ask about storage places in Michigan. I knew someone from Michigan who winterized his bike every year and he stored his bike somewhere that included a tune up at the end of the winter season.

There is lots of advice on the Internet. If you're not hip on performing the winterizing tasks yourself I bet you can find people who are willing to either show you step by step or do it for you for a fee.
Take care!
