My first trick for helmet hair is that I got a cooler bike! LOL! In all seriousness though, I have very fine, and now curly hair which is completely unruly withOUT a helmet! I've tried all lengths, longer is better. And I love my hat! Sunglasses on the head are also an option since they sit right where that flat spot is and hide it.
On the days I actually care, I have a small pen sized spray bottle from Sally Beauty Supply (or any beauty supply store, I'd hope) and put 2 or 3 drops of conditioner in it with water (from experience, distilled water is best to help keep the sprayer from clogging up from minerals in the water). Leave-in conditioner is good, but lately, I use WEN Tea Tree because I like the minty cool feeling.
Bottom line for me is now that I ride all the time, I really don't care anymore. Unless I see a knock-out woman with gorgeous hair come flying out of her helmet like the models do (and yes, I've seen it! It's not fair!!). Good luck! Happy riding! And yes, I still wave at other riders!

It's been four years since I started riding, and I cared at first. Getting to work and going in the bathroom with my curling iron. Guess what, I don't care anymore. My hair looks fine just the way it is. I use the sunglass on my head trick a LOT. I also use one of those wide winter headbands you get a wal-mart for a dollar under my helmet. Keeps my hair in plave and keeps the sweat off my hair. All I do is just flip it over and comb it back, good enough. I ride all the time, to work, the store, get the kid, Love it!
