I am very small of frame and concerned with buying my first real bike. I have driven larger motorcycles before and many of them have been very heavy and difficult to maneuver. I want to get a decent bike that I can feel safe on and actually have my feet reach the ground on. Any recommendations are appreciated!

I am also 4'11 and weigh 125 lbs. I got myself a Yamaha, v-star. It is a 650 and my feet are flat when I sit on the bike. It is light and very easy to maneuver. It is a great starter bike.

By now you probably already have a bike,but....... If you're still looking the lady that worked for the motorcycle shop gave you some good advice. She recommended the Suzuki GZ 250. A very good choice. Most of the motorcycle schools use this type bike or the Honde Rebel 250.. But if I had to choose , I would choose the Suzuki Bulevard 650 because only about 25lbs separate the 3 bikes and you are not likely to out grow the bike, which so often happens.. The will all go fast enough for you, but the 650 does it so much easier.

I work for a motorcycle school and if you're a beginning rider we recommend the Suzuki GZ250 or the Honda Rebel. Both have very low seat height and are also not too heavy. If you have more experience try the Yamaha VStar 650 - heavier, but still very low seat height.

I am on the short side too. I had a HD Dyna Lowrider which was an excellent bike. Nice low seat height and very well balanced. I'm currently riding a HD Deluxe that I installed a reduce reach seat and handle bars. Both have made a big difference! You may need to go with those in addition to lowering the bike. Hope this helps. Good luck in your search!

Depending upon your skill level, I can recommend the HD fatboy low or possibly the HD delux or switchback. Each can be lowered also with a reach seat and modified handlebars. If you don't want a big cruiser, sport bikes can also be easily modified for vertically challenged individuals.
