The great thing about the R1100R from BMW is that the seat is adjustable so I can ride it and my 6 footer husband can atoo, which he is too often doing. It also has a very comfortable upright sitting position and I like the fact that everything is right there--no stretching needed. Because the feet are slightly tucked in, I do get some tired knees on the long haul if I'm not in shape. But I like my feet tucked in and not in the cruiser position because it gives me that cocoon feeling. The R1100R was replaced by the R1150R and the R1200R. Both very nice bikes but too tall for me and I'm 5'6" with Daytona LadyStar boots! My longest day milage on the bike was 700 miles. Yes I was tired, but I would have been in a car also.
It is the best bike for me and I have 2 of them and would get another if we had the room. Since you have to buy them used, they are not expensive and BMW owners really keep the maintenance on their bikes up to date.

Isn't it horrible when you begin to run out of space in the garage? Both bikes are great choices - I wish you luck keeping your husband off........
