Hello, I am a 38 yr old woman who is tired of riding 2up. I want one of my own!!! We went and looked at a Yamaha Silverado 600 and a Honda Shadow Spirit 750. I'm a shorty though, only 4'9", so good thick boots and a lowering kit will be needed! lol I used to ride a small Yamaha back when I was a teen...so I'm not Totally new...but sure am apprehensive...lol I have been looking into taking the Safety Course, I'm in TX. I saw the 250's that you ride for the course and am pretty sure I will be ok once i get my boots(height wise). any suggestions, comments or help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I just completed the rider course in northern Wisconsin----was assigned a Rebel 250--great for learning basics. We are shopping for a low-rider for my 5'4" that I will feel "safe" riding. We're trying to find a pre-owned Honda Shadow Aero to compare with a beautiful Yamaha V-star 650 White with chrome that I found near home.
Good luck shopping! Take your time and just keep in your comfort zone as you go! That's my plan!

I would suggest taking the safety course. I took it and it really helped me in my confidence. Also I have the Honda Shadow and I love it! Although I am sure all the other bikes in that size range are equally as good. Good luck, enjoy riding and be safe!
