After much research I chose the ER6f for a number of reasons. I am vertically challenged at 5'1" and I didn't want a cruiser as I wanted to keep up with my partner(Suzuki Bandit). We all make alterations to our bikes, mine were early and major. A Suspension overhaul that lowered the bike by 2" (thanks Wilburs)and a shortening of the side stand and brake leaver and a lengthening of the gear leaver. Add in a set of Givi luggage and you have a bike that is a ball to ride around town and should be good on the long haul (about to tour Tasmania for 2 weeks). The bike is narrow and light but the engine has plenty of grunt and produces a wonderful sound when you twist with your right hand, unbeatable value and great looks. While the screen is not high, its plenty for someone my height and the fairing offers plenty of protection. I will probably change the handlebars so I sit up a bit more but its fine for the moment. Remember bikes are meant to be customized! Overall a bike with great potential for the smaller bike rider who wants more than a 250 and doesn't want a cruiser.

Denise is spot on - the ER6f is a fab sports tourer. I have the 2008 model, having spent a year on a Honda CBF250 but yearning for a punchy commuter on which I could also keep up with my partner's Triumph Sprint. For me, the weight (or lack of it) of the ER6f was the selling point, and the rest is all bonus.
Oh, and the funky looks and throaty sound help too..
Only down side - 1000mile tour on the original seat did my backside no favours!

Respect to Denise, there's a few radical mods to the bike, but you have got it just how you want. There must be loads of riders who just put up with what their bike gives them because they can't be bothered or don't know how to get the best for them. I have an '07 ER6f and think it's a great bike - as long as you keep in mind what it was intended for. To me it's a "proper" bike - it has a capacity like some of the classic bikes (650 Nortons, BSAs & Triumphs) does well on fuel, I've had 55mpg out of mine, (can't crack more than 44 out of my bigger "sportier" bike) and it goes well to illegal speeds. What more do you want?
