I just got a new motorcycle leather jacket from LeatherUP.com and it's a ladies' vented racer jacket. It's a wonderful jacket and it's very heavy with padded elbows and shoulders with vented zippers in front and back. It's a size small. I tried it on and it fits good in the shoulder area and the arms (it's a little long, but I can pull it up a little bit so it doesn't interfere with the clutching and throttling - the sleeves are zippered, too), but when I zip the jacket up, it is very, very snug at the hip/waist area. I am trying to decide if I should send it back for a size medium but I am worried that it will be too big at the shoulders and the sleeves will be too long. Do you have any advice as far as if its ok for the jacket to be very snug at the hip/waist area? Will leather stretch/loosen up over time? cos I do own another leather jacket (its not made for riding) and it certainly gotten stretched out. so any suggestions are welcome!...now I gotta find gloves!

I like my leather jacket being snug at the waist. It might loosen up over time (although I have found that my heavy leather jacket did not, thinner leather used in shoes does for me, though). However, I like it snug at my waist when I'm riding because then it's harder for wind to get up it :-)
If it's uncomfortable for you to wear while seated, though, you might want to look at a different brand of jacket since different brands will have different cuts.
