I put mousse in my hair, then I wrap it up in a bun with a silk scarf. Protects your hair from the cushion under the helmet. Carry along a small bottle of water to mist your hair with once you take off your helmet. Good Luck! Frizzle :)

Hi Ladies,
I did start out having shorter layered hair, and found that my hair was completely flat. I grew it out this last winter and longer hair works very well in my helmet. I do have bangs (I will always have them) and I high-light my hair too. I keep long layers, as my hair is full yet fine. I find it easy to put a low ponytail in and I use flat metal barrettes(the kind that gymnasts use) to keep the strays out of my face. I wear a half helmet on the hot summer days, so this method works great. When we stop, I take out the elastic and barrettes, fluff my hair, put my sunglasses in like a headband(to hold the hair back), until I get back on my bike. I do keep a tiny hairspray and folding brush that has a mirror on it(Avon) in my loop purse for those longer dinner stops and long road trips. This may sound like a lot of maintenance, but it's not...I am not a fuss-pot, I keep things simple...just sharing my method.
See you in the curves,
Caroline

I hear you Sassy about it being too hot. I'm in SW Florida and our humidity has finally hit and the temps now around 96 each day. Besides my short commute to work, I only want to do early morning rides on the weekend. I did a beach ride last weekend and the morning was beautiful, but I wanted to die by 3:00!

Sorry, but here in the Gulf Coast of Texas it is just too hot and humid to wear that. It is actually too hot now to even ride with the temperature reaching the 100 degrees this past couple of weeks and if you add in the humidity it feels like 110 degrees. I prefer to ride in the fall, winter and spring As the temps are much better. I guess that is why we live in Texas cause we can actually ride just about year round, but the summer months are almost too hot to bear riding a bike, but our aggression. Temp in the winter is maybe 60 degrees which is perfect for riding with all your safety gear on occasion it drops down colder in January and February.
