I recently turned 40 and decided to fulfill a dream and learn to ride! I got my permit and bought this 2005 Yamaha V Star Classic 650. She is black, sleek and runs like a dream. I logged about 75 miles in my subdivision, then braved the open road! I love my new bike and the sense of freedom I get riding down the road with just the sound of the wind and the Vance and Hines pipes!

I finally bought my first bike, a 2005 Yamaha v-star, in a beautiful blue color. I had taken the course about 2 years ago, got my endorsement but I never got around to getting a bike. I have been practicing for about 2 weeks and I love it. I am a little apprehensive on the main roads but I have been riding around the neighborhood and it's going ok. Hopefully soon I can learn to turn better without dropping the bike, LOL, and begin to ride everywhere.

Must be a turning 40 thing! LOL...I also turned 40 this year and bought myself a Yamaha Vstar 650. I absolutely love it and so glad I finally did it. I procrastinated for about 4 yrs but turning 40 I made up my mind to just do it!! Enjoy and safe riding :)

Hi Meg! I'm 55 years young. I took the Rider's Edge course in April and immediately got my license. I just bought a 2005 V-Star 650 Silverado yesterday. (This was an upgrade from my Honda Rebel.) I love this bike! I have to admit that at first I was a little intimidated by the size of the tank...quite a bit bigger than the Rebels...but found as I rode her around that it wasn't an issue. I did do a lot of researching before buying the V-Star. I found many good comments about the handling and weight of the bike, so decided that's what I wanted. I hope to get as many miles in on her (haven't come up with a name yet) as you have. Ride safe and have fun!

Thanks for all the support! I absolutely love my 650...she is perfect. I've been spending lots of time on the road to get as much experience as I can. I'm taking the MSF course in August, and I want to make sure I do really well. I've logged about 200 miles so far, and it has truly been great. I learn and get a little better on every trip, even had to make a hard stop yesterday for a car turning left in front of me. It went perfect! I'm glad to part of this great online community and the biking world! Happy and safe riding to everyone!

Your bike looks just like my 2002 VStar 1100 Classic. It was my upgrade bike. I love mine to death, so I know you must love your 650. Aren't they a great and fun ride?!
