The caps that athletes wear. They are meant to wick away perspiration. They have a silky feel and create a barrier so that your hair does not rub the inside of your helmet. Before I found these, I had sweaty hair/head, frizzy hair, broken ends, and itching scalp. By slipping this on, I feel much fresher taking my helmet off and my hair looks better!

I wonder if it would be possible to make one of these with a lead lining to give extra protection to a dental patient during xrays.

OK,
I modified the link in my post to show all available varieties.
This sure seems to be a very important topic so hopefully you can all find a solution that works for you :)

Marc's post showed the type with the wide elastic band. They didn't work for me (left a nice imprint across my forehead!). If you and find a store to go in and try on, feel it, etc I would recommend that.

I live in upstate NY and we have Dicks sporting goods stores here: Dick's Sporting Goods and they sell them (I find them in the men's section). They have a few types, but I found the "silk" feeling ones best. Little interference with helmet tightness (fullface). You could probably find them in any large sportinggoods store in your area that carry under armor brand.
Hope this helps.

Hi Rachel,
Where do you find these and what is the real name? What are they called so I can try to find them. Have looked online for some sort of silky skull cap without much success. Actually, the best material for this purpose is satin. Most that I find online are made of other, less effective materials.
Thanks,
Ren'e
