Each year after a season of riding my color-treated hair was fried and it took the entire winter to get it back to normal. I finally found three things that have made a huge difference:
1. The scarf; must be silk, not synthetic. Tie it any way you wish, but I think the ends hanging down my back are pretty. My hair is not so matted down and it is not treated to what is essentially a sand-paper action that comes from the inside surface of the helmet.
2. A shampoo that is sulfite-free. I guess the chemical is too harsh for me, this has helped my hair return to a silky, shiny state. 3. Turn the temp. down on your hair dryer. Medium heat is just fine and it has let me stop frying my hair every day.

Check out the web side Planet Buff or just goggle the word + motorcycle. There are 2 sites that I have found cant remember the other one.
This is a circular scarf that can be worn under your helmet. It has multiple uses such as a head band and a scarf. It slips over your head . It also keeps the head & face warm in the wind. Comes in different fabrics. I have 2 and love them. My hair is fine. Since I have been using the buffs I don't have the dreaded "helmet head" as bad. My style stays much better.

Judy, what's a "buff"?
by: Judy
I use a buff under my helmet. My hair is thin and it is so easy for me to get helmet hair. If I get a good haircut this also makes a great difference. I use some good products on my hair not too. Seems to work for me. Love my buffs plus some of them are retro-reflective. I have 2 now and want to get a few more.
