Grate Chef products are products for the ultimate backyard griller — and we tried them out!

My Dad was the ultimate backyard griller.
When the weather was good, my Dad would grill out every single weekend. When he lived in California, this meant almost every weekend, but once he moved to the East coast, it was the summers when he was able to grill the most. Even though it was just him and my sister (miles away from the rest of the family), he would still buy the family pack of chicken (or chicky, as he called it) and grill it all up and take it to work for his co-workers for their lunch.
His passion for grilling didn’t end in his own backyard. During our weekly Sunday calls, he would ask me if I had grilled lately. Sometimes I was sure I had disappointed him because it has been several weeks. And he would ask my brother and other sisters too, when he talked to them. He was devoted to grilling and felt the world should grill out as much as possible.
Well, my Dad may not be around anymore to enjoy our grilling, but I think he’d love that he inspired us to grill even more. We’ve followed in his footsteps and have really stepped up our game in the backyard grilling department.
With all the cooking and grilling we do in our house, I keep my eyes out for new products that can make our cooking, or in this case, grilling, even easier. Well, this week, I learned about Grate Chef products and they even sent me a box of goodies to try out.
The first product from Grate Chef that I thought was really cool was their Non-Stick Grill Wipes . We were so excited to try these because David finds food sticking to the grill to be one of the most annoying things about grilling. He usually rubs oil on the grill with a paper towel before grilling, and sometimes uses a spray, but it’s such a pain.
The Grate Chef Non-Stick Grill Wipes worked so much easier than his paper towel method. He loved that the pad clung to the bristles of his grill brush. He could lift up and move it to another area and the wipe would stay with the brush.
Of course, I had to fully check out the Non-Stick Grill Wipes to see how well they worked. I’m happy to report that we grilled shrimp after using them and the food didn’t stick at all.
The next product we tried out was the Grate Chef Stainless Steel Wipes . We probably should be ashamed of this, but we hardly ever clean the outside of our grill. We have company coming over for 4th of July, so I decided it was time to spruce it up, so I was especially happy to get these.
The Stainless Steel Wipes are very easy to use: just rub on and then buff to a shine. I also like that they can be used with other stainless steel appliances.
I had no clue that the next product even existed: the Grate Chef FlareDown, that helps to control grilling flare-ups. While I love grilling, I get a freaked out by some of the big flare-ups we get. With this, I was able to give a few sprays and tame the flames. It’s food-safe and much safer to use than water.
And last, but not least! This product is super cool — Grate Chef FireStarters . Not only do they make it so you don’t have to use lighter fluid to get your charcoal or wood going (yay!), but the part I like best about these is that they are waterproof, which makes them great for when you go camping They are also great for outdoor fireplaces.
I really enjoyed trying out all of the Grate Chef products. Before this past week, I had never heard of them, but I became even more impressed as I read about them even more:
