Kansas Drug Awareness Program

The Elks National Drug Awareness Program is the largest volunteer drug awareness program in the United States. The 1.1 million families that are Elk members are united in the single dream that our children should be raised in a drug free environment and we are dedicated to make that dream a reality.

The Elks Drug Awareness Program is just one of the Elks National Foundation’s programs dedicated to helping our youth through different activities.

The Elks Drug Awareness Program began in 1983 when our members passed the resolution at our National Convention that created the Elks National Drug Awareness Program. The resolution stated The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks affirmed and supported the concept of “No Use” of illicit drugs –ever- and that we oppose the legalization of any drugs, including marijuana, other than by authorized research or scientific study.

The members of our order have distributed millions of pieces of literature across the country advocating the no use of illegal drugs. We encourage all lodges to join with other community organizations to work together to eliminate this problem. The Elks Drug Awareness Program has teamed with The Drug Enforcement Administration; The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy: PRIDE: Drug Free America and CADCA just to name a few.
