The Dangers of Asbestos and Its Link to Mesothelioma Being diagnosed with any type of cancer is a shock to patients and their families. Treatment, recovery and lifelong battles are now part of their daily lives. One ailment that's relatively common is mesothelioma. It's a type of lung disease that's often associated with asbestos. To understand this ailment and patients' risk levels, take a close look at mesothelioma and asbestos as their link becomes clear. Understanding Asbestos in the Workplace Asbestos was used extensively in the early 20th century because of its durability in volatile locations. It's a substance that can withstand a lot of heat without smoldering or burning. With this fact in mind, certain industries used asbestos throughout their buildings and assets. Ships, factories, vehicles and other items were covered or lined with asbestos as a safety measure. After several decades, it became apparent that these substances were the basis of many ailments, including

The Dangers of Mesothelioma Cancer

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that’s most often caused by asbestos exposure. It usually forms in the lungs of those who have been exposed to this deadly toxin, but sometimes occurs in the abdominal area or the area around the heart. There are a number of therapies available that can help prolong survival and minimize symptoms and discomfort, but in most cases the cancer is too aggressive and too advanced at the time of diagnosis to be cured. This disease specifically impacts a thin membrane that protects the lungs, heart and organs within the abdominal cavity and enables them to function properly. This is called the mesothelium and the majority of cases of this type of cancer affect the pleura, the mesothelium that lines the lungs. Approximately 3,000 people are diagnosed with mesothelioma of all types in the United States every year. In most cases, these victims’ exposure took place on the job and the cause of the illness can be traced to an unsafe workplace.

Memories of a Biafran Child I am one of fortunate Igbo children who survived the Biafran war of 1967-1970. But my mother of blessed memory who was a grass widow during the bloodiest civil war in Africa lost three of her six children. But I don't know if they died of the epidemic of Kwashiorkor that killed hundreds of thousands of Biafran children. My mother said I did what no other child could dare to do. For a 5 year old boy to leave the IDPs camp and return to our village of Umuekwuele Aforugiri in the Uhuhu, Umuahia North Local Government (now in Abia state) when it was already captured by the Nigerian Armed Forces after one of the bloodiest battles with some of the. goriest scenes of human slaughter. I saw the charred remains of many corpses, and the most unforgettable was the burning corpse of one of my loving uncles. Then I saw a tall Nigerian soldier urinating in our garden. My nightmares of the Biafran war will never stop. I have chronicled the memories in the revised edit

Where Evil Mothers Kill their Babies, Drink their Blood and Eat Them

Many of the shocking revelations of the new book, Stories of Pastor E. A. Adeboye are horrifying. And they include where mothers kill children they carried nine months in their own womb, and cried in the labour room to deliver, to drink their blood and eat their flesh; where some mothers make their daughters barren or make it impossible for them to be married; where fathers cause their sons to lose jobs, and where wives gleefully turn their husbands to destitute and husbands use their wives for rituals. Not every pastor, bishop or minister can expose such horrifying and terrifying things done by black people in different communities in Nigeria without fear of the consequences that will follow. This book has a lot of revelations from the testimonies of Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), the largest Pentecostal church in the world with over 32,000 parishes in Nigeria, over 700 parishes in the United Kingdom, and many more sp

Join Us at Africa's Biggest Documentary Film Festival from March 16 The 2017 edition of the iREPRESENT International Documentary Film Festival is set to hold between March 16 and 19, 2017 at Freedom Park. This year’s edition is themed “Archiving Africa”. According to the organisers, iREP Film festival 2017 will rigorously explore the opportunities open to Africa to bring its historic past into an archival system that is accessible on demand, and most importantly, how we can begin to use these materials to define a path for the future through storytelling. “Africa has always been faced with a major challenge of connecting the dots in its historical past. A large part of what constitutes the verifiable history of Africa’s past today is sourced from the west. “The facts of our historical journey are told to us by western imperialists and we simply regurgitate what is made available to us. In an age when even technology is looking ‘forward&

Adeboye, tells the story of his amazing transformation from debilitating poverty into a powerful man of God revered by millions of people across the world. Entitled "Stories of Pastor E. A. Our Unforgettable Moments of 2016: Nunnsi and Celina at the Elegushi Beach in Lekki This is one of our unforgettable moments of 2016. Our time out at the popular Elegushi beach in Lekki during the making of my "Lagos in Motion" tourist documentary film in 2016. Two young Nollywood actresses, Nunnsi Ojong and Celina Ideh enjoyed every moment. Celina was scared of falling off one of the horses and screaming "Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" Then she was twerking later after overcoming her fear. They had a bottle of wine before the sunset. The Fateful Day General Murtala Ramat Muhammed Was Assassinated in A Coup D'état Friday, February 13, 1976 has remained an unforgettable day in the political history of Nigeria and in my memory. It is over 40 years ago, but the most tragic incident of that fateful day was the assassination of General Murtala Ramat Muhammed in one of the bloodiest coups in Nigeria since the first coup executed by the late Major Kaduna Nzeogwu on January 15, 1966. The coup plotters led by Lt. Col. Buka Suka Dimka also murdered General Muhammed's Aide-De-Camp (ADC), Lieutenant Akintunde Akinsehinwa and his driver, Sergeant Adamu Michika. But his Orderly, Staff Sergeant Michael Otuwu miraculously survived after he regained consciousness later in the morgue. The ill fated Mercedes Benz 600 car at the scene of the assassination. Think Tank Forecasts World Hunger Solved By 2099 SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- By 2099, hunger will no longer plague this world. Future generations of smiling children with full stomachs will thank 100-story, skyscraper greenhouses and tireless robot farmers that work 24x7 to cultivate vast fields of arable land. Other advances will include floating farms the size of Yellowstone Park in the mid-Pacific and squadrons of flying robot bugs that zap all crop-eating bugs. When this future arrives, world hunger will be eradicated and hundreds of millions of lives will be saved. For further information regarding means to end world hunger, please visit key4hope.com Futurologist Timothy Donohue predicts that by 2099, thousands of 100-story skyscraper farms will be built throughout the world near coastlines after desalination techniques are perfected. Introduction LAGOS in MOTION: A Photo Album of Africa's Largest Megacity This is the photo book of my “Lagos in Motion: Sights and Sounds of Africa’s Largest Megacity” tourist documentary film. This book of selected photographs from more than 35 different locations of the documentary is as im-portant as the motion picture and will certainly become a collector’s item. I have been living in Lagos since birth, so I have seen the evolution of Lagos from the 1970s to date as the federal capital of Nigeria before losing the status to Abuja in 1991, but has become one of the fastest growing cities in the world as the commercial capital of Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa and the continent's largest economy boosted by the rapid development of Lagos state with a population of more than 20 million people attracting both local and global investors to become the richest state in Nigeria and fifth biggest economy in Africa as the largest megacity with the h
