Martinisare happening for the 4th of July. Specifically, honeydew and watermelon martinis!
We’re keeping it simple today, with the snippet from this month’s email.
Summer has officially claimed the throne, filling the long days with heat, humidity and a million reasons to be outdoors grilling. But, I’m sure you’ve already got today’s menu all planned out over the open flame, so for this month, we are giving you a little something to sip on while lounging poolside.
What a better accompaniment for an old fashioned Independence day celebration than a good stiff drink to keep you sociable from one picnic to the next? Or to give you a really good excuse as to why you missed Cousin Tommy’s annual shindig. So, hand the keys to someone else and take a sip of one of these melon martinis.
Serve the cocktails with some smoked pulled pork sandwiches or big juicy burgers.

Honeydew Martini
Because the popsicles were just the excuse to have a honeydew laying around Makes 2 full Martinis
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups diced honeydew
- pinch of sugar
- 1.5 ounces Midori (melon liquor)
- 1.5 ounces triple sec
- 3 ounces vodka
Preparation:
Puree the honeydew and sugar in a blender. Combine all ingredients in a mixer with ice, shake and strain into a martini glass.
Watermelon Martini
Because why should the honeydew have all the fun Makes 2 full Martinis
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups diced watermelon
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1.5 ounces triple sec
- 3 ounces vodka
- squirt of lime juice
Puree the watermelon in a blender. Combine all ingredients in a mixer with ice, shake and strain into a martini glass.

Thanks Kita, both looks greats, it is just what I need for this weekend.Sorry but I have to ask, what is “honeydew”? I didn’t learn that fruit in my English classes at school..
They didn’t teach you about honeydew melons! They have failed you drastically! Honeydew is one of the best melons you can eat (ok, that is totally a biased opinion from me).
They are small and round like a cantaloupe but green all the way through and sweeter. I tend to find the texture a bit more enjoyable too! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honeydew_%28melon%29
