Who’s still digging out from yet another snow storm? Who’s had enough of snow days? Yup, me too! I’d love to whisk you away with me to a little island off the coast of Georgia. It’s a destination that is brimming with charm and history. Today I have an all access tour to Screened Inn for you. This little cottage was previously a mess hall for the military stationed at Fort Screven back in the 1920’s.

The trees on the property drip with spanish moss and beacon you to slow down and take a big sea air breath.

The cottage is a stone’s throw from the Tybee Island lighthouse and the beach.

Step up onto the screened porch and kick off your shoes.

The door opens and you are transformed back in time with all the antiques that decorate the cottage.

All the Mermaid Cottages are stocked with a special blend of Mermaid coffee. (Hooray for not having to bring your own coffee!)

I think the kitchen is the most adorable spot in the cottage? I spent more time in here than any other room (excluding sleeping.)  Kim and Holly, my roomies for the weekend, sat at the table with me enjoying coffee and chatting. The fabulous Kevin and Layla Palmer decorated this cottage a few years ago. You can see more about the process on TheLetteredCottage.net .

The kitchen is filled with colorful antiques.

Off the kitchen is a small bedroom with a Sand & Sea theme.

The second bedroom in the cottage is the Lemonade Mermaid room.

I love that hutch on the back wall. Anything chippy and cracked woos me every time!

Beyond the Lemonade Mermaid room is the nautical decorated living room. I love the little coffee table that doubles as a spot for the kids to draw and color.

I saved the best room for last… Welcome to Lettered Love.

This room is beautifully decorated with aqua and blue.

But, the room gets its name from the one wall that is covered with a beautiful quote by Sandy Gingras from “How to Live on an Island”. You can read more about this room’s makeover and about how Leen the Graphics Queen and her husband James installed the quote on the wall.

I had to leave you with a little light candy. This little crystal chandelier is hidden in the storage area off the kitchen. I just happened to look up and see it before we left.
