Nice. Low probability doesn't mean that it's 0. For some reason, a lot of people think that way - when there's a slim chance it's going to happen, then they see that it can't possibly happen as a fact (incredibly common way of thinking in my school as well).
In my opinion, probability itself doesn't hold much meaning. A 0 probability with occasional short 100% peaks may be seen as something like 10^-24. Now when during these 100% peaks the event definitely happens and scientists consider 10^-24 as 0 probability, then there are already events that science has not foreseen.
Probability per a certain time period would be better, but without a precise date, it's still no proof. And even when there would be a precise date attached to every probability, one can't prove anything with it - because it has been measured / calculated for that one moment only (it still doesn't explain when the events should take place).
This low probability is what they often use as a cover to back up their skepticism.
For some reason, statistics is often used for proving things. However, statistics is one of the easiest to manipulate with, as one can easily twist the results to reflect what they believe.
I figure this post ended up a bit aggressive.

I totally agree; I've found through comparative cultural studies of various spiritual disciplines, that concentration skill, is a common denominator:)
Read "Trance-Formation of America" last weekend: http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/sociopolitica/transforusa/transformation.htm
It was a real eye-opener for me. It helped me recognize aspects of myself that I was previously not aware of. Also, the methods used for mind-control seemed pretty useful for self-design (conditioning oneself). Awareness of these methods might also help to gain some immunity against the media conditioning.
However, the text is fairly long, contains foul language and stains the present powers. If you read it, I suggest applying compassion and empathy towards all parties involved.

Hi I am new here :D I just wanted to mention that if you start practicing in front of others, definitly choose the people. Its so hell important, as i noticed when showing it to some friends. One of them is sceptic as hell and his view of reality was enough to lock me down. When his attetion moved onto something else I could barely practice, with his attention nothing happend. So what now happend is that i couldnt perform any TK even he was absence. I was wondering why? His pure belief that TK can not be real and that I definitly are not performing it, became a new reality that manifested. The problem was now i just saw one way out of this. Proof this guy wrong. But for this i had to change his belief system from "definitly not possible" to "might be possible". If you have never heard of NLP this can be a serious problem since Beliefs are almost not to change by someone else.
I know this is an old post, but this has me a bit worried. I live with people who are absolutely convinced it's not real. And I really want to prove them wrong about it because they would love for it to be real. Anyone here had success with that, living with heavily-skeptical relatives and managing to develop powers though practice despite that? Which you could then use to prove them wrong?
I think there are two factors to deal with; one is performance anxiety, & the other is competing probability waves. Performance anxiety can be managed & overcome through drilling technique, so that your nervous system responds without thinking. Similarly, soldiers during World War I, would often cower in the trench, unable to overcome fear of death & killing. However, it was realized later that by drilling & conditioning fighting response into muscle memory; soldiers would fight in later wars without thinking. In the same way psychokinetic performance anxiety can be managed.
Concerning probability wave interference; meaning psychokinetic tug of war, or conflicting intentions. It can be overcome by development of willpower & charismatic fascination. Developed concentration skill, leads to a stronger willpower; strong desire, along with willpower, leads to charismatic fascination of those around you. If you radiate the strongest will in a group; the will of others can be mobilized by your own & the psychokinetic effects amplify.
The solution is practice essentially:)
You could also condition them gradually by joking about such things, and sometimes dreaming out loud. Some examples:
I used things like that to condition my family and schoolmates.
