Japanese Breakfast at Perry's
Chef Masako Morishita will soon launched a traditional Japanese breakfast service, the first of its kind in Washington, DC, at Perry’s I Adams Morgan. Available every other Saturday, the new Japanese breakfast menu features a $42 pre-set offering of traditional items including grilled salt-cured ocean trout accompanied by a sampling of small dishes such as Shiso Dashi Maki Tamago, a Japanese-style soft omelet made with jidori eggs and shiso; Nikujaga - beef tenderloin, potatoes and carrot stew and Nasu Agedashi - fried shishito and eggplant in a sweet dashi soy broth. House-made Nuka Zuke, rice bran pickled cucumber and carrots , round out the menu with condiments like homemade furikake and nori. All breakfast set orders are accompanied with koshihikari rice and miso soup.
Add-ons and a la carte menu items are also available including the Egg Salad Sando ($10) made with soft scrambled jidori eggs, cream cheese, togarashi and kewpie mayo and Spam Musubi "Onigirazu" ($7) made with cabbage, scrambled egg, seared Spam, koshihikari rice and wrapped in nori. Guests looking for a sweet finish to the meal can try the Japanese Pancake ($15) served with house-made berry jam, shiokoji whipped butter and maple syrup or the Fruit Sando ($13) made with mascarpone whipped cream and strawberries. A thoughtful selection of Japanese breakfast cocktails is also available featuring options like the Tokyo Morning Mule ($13) with Sake, Fujimi Vodka, cucumbers, fresh lime and ginger beer and the Akita ($12) with Sapporo rice lager, sake, homemade spicy tomato juice blend and lime. Sparkling sake and wine are also available alongside fine Japanese teas.
