- Monitoring and reporting on legislation in city and county governments in the Washington metropolitan area, with a strong focus on the District of Columbia.
- Updating and maintaining records of local policy makers and key staff.
- Updating and maintaining membership database, including reviewing current district and point of contact information.
- Assisting with drafting and reviewing membership surveys.
- Assisting with drafting policy briefs for internal and external stakeholders and related content for policy and advocacy materials.
- Providing logistical support for meetings with policy makers and staff as needed.
- Assisting with day-to-day administrative duties as needed.
- Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in public policy, government, or related political science.
- Strong service orientation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Careful attention to detail and proofreading skills.
- Ability to problem solve and multitask.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills and willingness to ask questions as necessary.
- Computer competencies, including conducting online research and experience with G Suite tools Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
- Experience with database management a plus.
- Interest in or knowledge of local food, beverage, and hospitality industry a plus.
