Off the Beaten Basepaths #8: League Stadium in Huntingburg, Indiana

August 1, 2015 by · 2 Comments

One of the most enjoyable stops on a recent baseball sojourn to the Midwest was visiting League Stadium in Huntingburg, Indiana, home of the Dubois County Bombers of the Ohio Valley League, which is a summer collegiate circuit. League Stadium was also home to the movie version of the Rockford Peaches when Columbia Pictures filmed scenes from A League of Their Own there in 1991. It’s a ballpark that is definitely worth visiting as you’ll see in this episode of Off the Beaten Basepaths .

(Note: The Dubois County Bombers took the final two games in a three game championship series against the Madisonville Miners winning their first ever OVL crown. Their 3-2 victory against the Miners on July 31 st capped a very successful summer in Huntingburg.)

Nice review! Looking forward to hearing more about your road trip in September. This footage was done nicely, and really does have the feel of the 1991 movie. Just on a whim, I came down to the basement this evening and logged in. Glad I did! You always make me feel like I was right there. I could even smell the peanuts!

@Don Hoover – Glad you enjoyed this, Don. I was very pleased with how the video turned out. League Stadium just might be my favorite ballpark now. It was certainly a great experience about which I’ll have more on http://www.austingisriel.com later this week.
