10 Peculiar Things You Should Know About Lucid Dreaming

Sharing is caring!

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of experiencing a lucid dream or know what it is, here it is in a nutshell. Lucid dreaming is being in a dream state and being fully aware that you are sleeping and dreaming and can still control it to a certain degree.

Sounds pretty awesome, yes? Many of us fear lucid d reaming and immediately wake up. Not all lucid dreams are fun. Some can actually be pretty terrifying so it's great to have the ability to recognize it and snap out of it.

There are, however, some pretty peculiar things some of you don't know about lucid dreaming. It's not all nightmares and fear.

lucid_dreaming2 1. Your orgasms are real.

I list this as number one be cause, well, why not? Many of us are embarrassed by this. Don't be. It's a natural part of life. When you are dreaming and feel like you just had an orgasm, well you really did. Not only that, the sex/orgasm lucid dream is one of the most popular. Go figure.

2. If you want to wake up while you are in lucid dream state, close your eyes.

Remember you can control your dream and what is going on, right? You are right there and can visualize everything. If you aren't enjoying your dream, close your eyes in your dream and it will end.

3. People who play video games or any other game tend to have more lucid and adventurous dreams.

More dragons and flying adventures perhaps? This fact alone makes me want to play more games. Imagine the exciting dreams!

4. You can do it.

Yes, anyone can learn how to reach lucid dream state. With a bit of practice, some meditation, journaling and a few other tools, you can teach yourself how to be a lucid dreamer or at the very least start having them. Not everyone wants to have lucid dreams but those that do will spend time practicing to get there.

5. Flying is pretty popular.

Actually it's at the top of the list as a recurring lucid dream. We love to dream of flying and why not? The freedom and feeling of being on top of the world makes us feel light and stress-free.

6. Talking in your sleep.

While you are in a lucid dream state you can actually still carry on a conversation with someone who is awake. It may not be a long conversation nor very intelligent, but it's possible to communicate with others. When you hear of people talking in their sleep, some of them are actually in a lucid dream state. Don't hold any of what they said against them.

7. Heart rate and blood pressure can rise quickly.

Though this sounds rather dangerous, it's possible. You are in your dream and your dream is very real. Whether you are flying around, driving in a race car at the Indy 500 or facing fire breathing dragons, one thing is certain, your heart is going to beat out of your chest and you are going to experience a great deal of excitement, panic or anxiety. If it gets too much, remember you can wake yourself up.

8. One in 5 of us have lucid dreams.

It's good to know that there are quite a few of us out there that have lucid dreams. It's not as uncommon as you think. Of these people, it is reported that they have at least one a month.   Hope it's a good one!

9. Cool inventions.

It is said that quite a few inventions have resulted from lucid dreaming. The dreamers let the dream unfold and paid attention to what was going on. The sewing machine was invented through a dream.

10. Pass the drugs please.

There is a drug that you can buy, obviously very illegal, to help get you to the lucid dream state. I can only imagine what those dreams must be like. Though I suppose taking any kind of drug will bring on unusual dream activity.

Lucid dreaming isn't for everyone. Some people just want to relax and enjoy their sleep and their dreams. For those of you that would like to have mo re, there are many ways to become a lucid dreamer. Any google search will bring great results. Sweet dreams.
