4 Biggest Dream Killers And How To Avoid Them

Sharing is caring!

I bet you know that feeling, you want to accomplish your goals, but somehow you can't.  If this is your situation, there is a big chance that you are a victim of something called – Dream killers. Today I will present you 4 biggest dream killers that killed more goals that you can possibly imagine.

1. What will people say?

This is for me, the biggest obstacle in people's lives. I myself, struggled with this a lot. I always pointlessly cared about other people. I cared about what they are thinking about me. Even people, I didn't know well. I didn't want them, to laugh at me.

Then I saw one of my favorite actor's quote:

Stop letting people who do so little for you control so much of your mind, feelings, and emotions." – Will Smith

Then, I realized, I have to do something about my life. I don't want to live someone else's life.

So, after a research I did, I now understand, that there will always be people, who don't like you, who will envy you, and it's perfectly okay.

So it's wasting your time and energy to care about it. Just find your passion, do what you love, surround yourself with people who are supporting you, not those who are holding you back.

2. Living in Past

This is also something, I have a great experience with. I've been struggling with this, mainly in my sports career. I thought about what I did, what I should do differently. I just lived in the past, and not focusing on the present.

If you try to focus on the present, live in this exact moment, for one week. You'll see, that this is key for happiness.Don't get me wrong, you should think about your past. Because it's one of the best ways to learn. When you make a mistake, you should analyze it and learn from it. But then, stop struggling with this. It already happened, you can't take it back. So, use your new information, to prevent yourself, from doing this mistake again.

3. Toxic Influence

It's really hard for you when you set a goal, you are happy about step-by-step fulfilling it, and people around you always hold you back. You always hear this isn't for you, you will never accomplish something like that. As I mentioned above, they may laugh at you, and call you weird.

But ask yourself: Do I really care about their opinion?

If your answer is no, let them go, and spend the smallest portion of time with them.

If your answer is yes (it may be your family for example), try to change their mind. Because believe me, if you are surrounded by toxic people, it´s 100% harder to get what you want.

4. Lack of Self-Discipline

Marines have one saying:

Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to die."

There is one misconception people believes, that if they do what they want, they´ll become successful. The truth is, in order to reach your dream, you´ll have to do what is necessary. You may love what you are doing, but there will be times, where you´ll have to do something, you don´t like, what doesn´t interest you. Will you stop pursuing your dream because of this? I hope not!

Let me give you an example:You may be recording videos, where you share your knowledge with people all over the world. Let´s say, you are a law expert. You love talking about the law, giving tips to people, who need it.

But, when you record your video, you have to think about graphics, you have to take care of music, about targeting your audience. A.k.a. – thinks, you don´t like it, but necessary, for you to be able to talk about the law (A.k.a. something you love)

Muhammad Ali said:

I hated every minute of training, but I said: Don´t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion."

In conclusion, a key to achieve any goal you want is self-discipline. Good news is that we can learn self-discipline, simply by practicing it every single day. After a few weeks, it will become automatic and we will make a huge step toward our goals.
