Imagine walking through a field of lush purple lavender and taking in the beautiful sight and fragrance. Suddenly you are calm without a care in the world. You feel reenergized and happy. Now imagine all those Zen like feelings can be bought in a bottle of oil. Who doesn't love the smell and feelings of complete bliss that lavender can provide?

In today's world, we are bombarded with drugs for this and pills for that. Try this ointment for that condition and take two of these every day for a week. But we don't always want a shelf full of bottle and ointments that claim to ease our conditions. We want something natural that can be used a thousand different ways. In comes lavender oil. So what can it be used for and why should we h ave some?

Studies have shown that inhaling lavender for up to 60 minutes a day, every day, can help alleviate anxiety, anger, depression and many other emotional conditions we may suffer from. It can also be taken in capsule form, for easier methods.

Sniffing lavender oil has shown to be extremely effective in reducing and alleviating the pain from headaches, tension and or migraines. When mixed with peppermint oil, the results are even better. Rub the oil on the back of your neck, at your temples or keep the bottle close by and take in the aroma by sniffing it. If you are a migraine sufferer, research shows that if you sniff it every day for 15 minutes, the frequencies of migraines will be reduced.

Spritz the room with lavender or put some oil on a little piece of cotton/fabric and place it on your pillow. Now take in the calming fragrance as you drift off to sleep. When mixed with other essentials oils, it can be especially speedy and effective in helping treat burns, eczema and cuts. Also, when mixed, and inhaled, it is great for help with chest and lung problems like common colds and pneumonia.

This oil is the super hero anti-oxidant of the world with good reason. Our body needs to create enzymes which protect us from sickness. Because of the toxins in the air we breathe and the food we eat, our bodies aren't getting the proper ones, or enough of them. Lavender oil helps to grow some of our bodies most powerful anti oxidants. Not only that, it helps protect our cells from further damage.

Lavender oil can be used in many ways and it's always best to find the purest form. If that's not possible, at least try to get it at a health food store so you know the quality will definitely be better than one at your local department store. To make a great room spritzer, buy a small water bottle with a spray nozzle and add 30-40 drops of oil in an 8-ounce bottle mixed with spring water or distilled water. Shake it up and spritz away. Keep it handy for those days you feel extra stressed. You can also easily burn lavender oil with a diffuser. Try to have some in your nightstand for bedtime. This oil will definitely help you get to sleep faster. With any oil, it can be mixed and experimented with for many different fragrances. You an also mix it with coconut oil or any other carrier oil for a great massage oil. Any way you choose to use it, have fun and enjoy the benefits.
