7 Things You Don't Owe Anyone An Explanation For

Sharing is caring!

We are mostly people pleasers. We want everyone to be happy and we never want any one to speak badly of us. We try to stay in the norm of society and we feel slightly hesitant when it comes to stepping out of the box. We test waters with our toes, very cautiously. Never wanting to upset anything and always too afraid to try new things.

But what if you aren't like any of that. What if you are that one person who could care less. Who jumps out of the box. The one who lives life the way you want without a care in the world. That one person who never apologizes or feels the need to explain yourself to anyone. Kudos to you. The world needs more people like.

pin-up lady with tattoos in retro car Why do we feel the need to have to explain ourselves to people all the time? Why can't we just go about our business without having to tell everyone why, where, when, how and what? Whose business is our life anyway? Do you find yourself doling out explanations for these things listed below? If you do, it's time to stop. You don't owe anyone an explanation for any of these.

1. Your level of education.

Some people feel embarrassed that they never graduated high school and immediately follow up it with an explanation as to why. It's nobody's business why you didn't graduate. Who cares? Your level of education does not define you. Especially if you are successful today.

2. Where you live.

Whether you live in a two-bit tar paper shack or in your parent's basement. Where you live is your business and if no one likes it or if they want to judge you on it, that's their problem not yours. You don't have to explain to anyone why you live where you live. It doesn't define you, it shelters you and that's all that matters.

3. Your appearance.

If your hair is a mess that day or you aren't dressed in designer clothing. Or maybe you like to get inked up and pierced. Maybe you like to have your head shaved, but only one side. Your appearance is your unique gift to the world. You don't owe anyone an explanation as to why you look the way you do. If they don't like it, they can look the other way.

4. Your political views.

This is always not a good thing. People an d politics is a recipe for a heated discussion. You don't owe anyone an explanation as to why you chose a certain political party. You have your reasons as they have their reasons for who they choose. Why do people always feel the need to try to persuade others to come to their side?

5. Your belief in God.

Another loaded one. For those that don't believe in God they don't get why you do. I mean if there was a God why didn't he stop terrorist's attacks and why does he cause people to get sick and die? They don't understand any of that and they look to you for an explanation. Don't bother. They won't believe you anyway and the argument will never end.

6. Your alone time.

You like your personal space. You don't always want to go out and socialize and be a party animal. Sometimes you just want to curl up with a good boo k or a good movie and be alone. You don't have to explain why to anyone. It's your business and they should just respect your need for your alone time.

7. Your life and/or relationship choices.

It's your life. If you want to be gay or straight or single or bi it's your choice. You don't have to explain any of this to anyone. If you want to be a waitress for the rest of your life and live with your lesbian lover and get inked twice a year that's your choice. You don't have to explain to anyone why you live the way you do. People like to question things that are out of the norm because it challenges their beliefs. Let them go find the answers somewhere else. It's your business.

I am a firm believer in it's your life, you live the way you want, and don't apologize or feel the need to have to explain your life to anyone. If you aren't hurting anyone, then why should any of the above mentioned even matter? Be you, be free, without explanation.
