Sunday Siesta – Special Appeal

Sharing is caring!

This weeks Sunday Siesta is dedicated to one person, Brian Murphy.   This is the one and only time I will ever ask for donations for anything.   A lot of people have donated to me over the last few months, mainly for the content on this blog, however I would like to ask if you think the content in the blog is worth it to donate to a charity which will help children of Scotland and the people of Nepal.

sunday_siesta Brian has done some fantastic work over the last few months and has managed to raise £2,469 all on his own by organising events, and friends and family have been extremely generous.   I would like to ask you to donate as much or as little as you want as every penny helps.

Here is Brian in his own words about this challenge:

Brian's challenge

In November 2009 I will undertake the biggest challenge of my life "“ trekking over 100km through the foothills of the Himalaya on the Who Cares? Scotland Bhara Pokhari trek.

The Challenge will help raise funds for Who Cares? Scotland (Registered Charity No. SC026076), a charity that offers support and advocacy to young people in care in Scotland. This trip represents an amazing opportunity and challenge for all participants but particularly for the young people involved, all of who have lived in care.   The money raised will not only help finance their support and participation in the trip; it will also help other young people supported through the charity's work.

A second beneficiary of the Challenge will be Community Action Nepal (Registered Charity No. 1067772), patroned by Sir Chris Bonnington. Community Action Nepal (CAN) use money raised to benefit the people of rural Nepal, one of the poorest countries in the world. It is a country in which many of the things we tend to take for granted, such as clean water, education and medical care, are not freely available.   CAN has built and run schools, medical posts, water supplies, porter shelters and many other community projects.

The coming months will be dedicated to getting fit for the trek and to fundraising.   I have a target of £1,900.00, a sum that will help me participate in the Challenge and contribute to the work of both Who Cares? Scotland and Community Action Nepal.   I would greatly appreciate your help in reaching that target.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Who Cares? Scotland gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Please Donate for The Children of Scotland and People of Nepal
