Providing Assistance to Enhance the Lives of People Living with Disabilities

Mission

Therapists Without Borders matches professional therapists with underserved communities around the world, both by partnering with established organizations and by implementing support programs where there are none. The program’s goal is to maximize potentials for lifelong achievement, community acceptance, social/emotional satisfaction, and economically productive work at each person’s highest level of independence.

The Need

There is a general lack of knowledge about disabilities and less about therapy options in countries like Kenya. Since 2007, Linda Szeto has volunteered through Village Volunteers as a therapist visiting impoverished villages. Linda realized she consistently came across adults and children with disabilities that had never been diagnosed, and whose caregivers and teachers never received proper consultation or support.

Volunteer ! Destinations are recommended for individual therapist volunteers based on how well your interests and clinical skills match the particular needs of the villages. Each Therapists Without Borders destination may have one or more areas of need or opportunities in which you can assist.
