Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is encouraged as the preferred feeding for all infants, including premature newborns. Breast milk has many benefits for both mother and baby. Breastfed infants have decreased risk of diabetes, asthma, allergies, and ear infections. We have designated breastfeeding peer counselors, Certified Lactation Consultants, and Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) who can provide support to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers free of charge. Our trained specialists can help:

  • Prepare for a successful breastfeeding experience, address questions or concerns before the baby is born
  • Troubleshoot common breastfeeding concerns such as low milk supply, soreness, pumping, returning to work/school, and more
  • Provide breastfeeding assessments, including baby pre- and post-weight measurements to determine milk intake at breast
  • Obtain a breast pump or other supplies that are needed for breastfeeding success
  • Locate community resources and support groups
  • Offer the compassionate support that new mothers need
