Question 1

What Are your Cake Toppers made of?

My Cake Toppers are made of FIMO – Polymer Clay. This is a Resin Clay that hardens at 120 °C, making them a permanent keepsake of your wedding, anniversary or other special day you’ll want to remember in years to come.

What size are your Cake Toppers?

My Cake Toppers are approximately 15cm high for standing figurines. They are typically created sitting on an oval base which is an integral part of the topper used to sit it on the cake. The cake topper base can be in fimo clay or in wood. The material used depends on the overall dimensions which in turn depend on the number of people and presence of domestic animals: some toppers are very busy with the bride and groom, childern, cats and dogs!

How much notice do you need?

Lead time to deliver a cake topper strongly depends on:

The complexity of the composition you’d like me to create;
The specific time of the year your wedding or event will take place.

If your wedding or anniversary is going to take place in May or a summer month, then I need to have your order early on: you should order anywhere between January and March to make sure I have enough time. If your topper foresees particular poses or use of bikes, motorcycles, boats or other external elements I’ll need to work with, then lead time can play an important role so please do contact me as soon as possible so we can talk about it and understand the work involved.

What about payment?

All Cake Toppers are not shipped until full payment is received.Once I receive your description, I’ll send you a quote – I expect you to send an email of acceptance. Once the cake topper is ready to be shipped I’ll send you a photo. That’s when I’ll send you the bill – you can pay via PayPal or bank transfer. Please note that an additional 4% applies for PayPal payment.

When can I expect to receive my Cake Topper?

Once payment is received your cake topper will ship the next working day (typically 24 hours). Depending on your final destination, delivery will take anywhere between 5 to 15 days.

What information do you require to create a Cake Topper?

I need a detailed description of the cake topper you’d like me to create: Some people go to great lengths to describe how they’d like it to be and send many photos to describe everything: remember the devil is in the details! You also need to keep in mind I can only create what you tell me, I’m not there with you, I don’t know you or your future husband, nor do I know your domestic animals so it’s extremely important that you go the extra length to describe things and send me images and close up shots of yourself so I can make the figurines of your cake topper resemble you! And remember that once your cake topper has been made, changes are very difficult to implement and can be very small variations.

How do I store my Cake Topper?

MaryMade.it Cake Toppers are made in Fimo, a polymer Clay of the best quality. They are typically strong and can withstand small traumas and falls without suffering major breakages. They are normally put on display in a glass cabinet, or anywhere you’d like to put it on display in your living room. Keep your cake topper clean with a dry cloth. There is nothing else you’ll need to do to keep your cake topper clean.

How much does it cost to deliver a cake topper?

Postage & Handling strong depends on the final destination of the cake topper. I ship worldwide: United States, Australia, South Africa, Continental Europe. In Europe I typically ship with an International Courier. For distant destinations I rely on International postage which is reliable yet cheaper. When you send me the description of your cake topper please tell me where it must be sent so I can quote your for postage and handling as well.

Do you deliver your cake toppers overseas?

Yes absolutely! I ship worldwide. I am bilingual, I speak and write both Italian and English. My cake toppers have found a home in many countries throughout the world – you can see the many reviews people have honored me with on Google

If I order today, when will I receive my cake topper?

Typical delivery times are in the order of 15 to 20 days. Having said that, lead time will vary significantly depending on WHEN you require your cake topper: I always suggest to order in “off peak” season – January to April are months when I have more availability and can accommodate most requests: the closer we get to the “hot months” (May through September) the more difficult is it for me to deliver. If you order during off peak months I can give you a good price 😉

Can you post my order immediately?

No. Every cake topper is a unique creation, created to fit your request. I do not stock cake toppers, but make them on request

I live close by, can I pick up my order?

I do not have a physical store and therefore do not offer local pick up. If you have particular urgency I can arrange for express shipping.

Do you take custom orders or make personalised cake toppers?

Yes. I produce exclusively on demand, all my cake toppers are unique and personalized to meet your requirements. No 2 cake toppers are ever the same, each and every one is original. I do not carry “off the shelf” cake toppers.

Question 14

If I place an order for a cake topper, can I make changes to one of your existing designs for my event?

Yes. Clients normally contact me with their idea of a cake topper. I normally send them images of similar cake toppers I have created for other events. Sometimes Clients browse my website and find a topper they really like and ask me to base their cake topper on one I already created!

What are your prices? Are your cake toppers expensive?

No. A MaryMade.it cake topper is very reasonable considering the amount of work I put into creating each and every creation. A basic cake topper costs € 120,00 (approximately $USD 150,00) + shipping and handling. My pricing is very reasonable and I do my best to accommodate all your requests to personalize it keeping the price reasonable – ask me for a quote now !

Are your cake toppers non-toxic/food safe?

Yes. You need not to worry. My cake toppers are positioned on a wooden base or a base made of fimo. The base can be in touch with the cake – it is not toxic and can be considered to be food safe

Are your cake toppers edible?

No. My cake toppers are non toxic and food safe but they are not edible. In fact they last a lifetime but you cannot eat them!

What if I want my topper to be shiny?

My cake toppers are not shiny, They are made of fimo clay. Their finish is not typically shiny but they are very elegant!

Question 19

How long will my cake topper last?

A lifetime. If you put the right amount of effort in looking after our cake topper, it will last a lifetime. Put it in a safe place away from the reach of small childern or your pets. If you place it in a a protected area, (for example a glass shelf) all you’ll need to do is dust it from time to time. That’s it.

How much do your cake toppers weigh?

A typical wedding cake topper with a bride and groom positioned on a wood base can weigh approximately 300 grams (about 0,7 pounds)

Are there problems for you to ship from Italy? Are your shipments insured?

No. There is no problem for you to order from me, no matter where you are in the world. I have delivered cake toppers to the United States, all of Europe, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand… You order it and I’ll deliver! If there are problems and your toper should arrived damaged, I’ll repair or replace – it depends on the problem. This is a very rare event, I pack my toppers very carefully, they normally arrive safe and sound 🙂

What about duties and import fees?

Typically there are no import and duty fees but we’ll need to confirm and I can normally anticipate if there are additional costs related to import duty and fees.

What is your refund policy?

I guarantee delivery. As all my cake toppers are personalized and made to your specifications, so there is no refund. I guarantee my shipments against any damage.

Who is Mary Tempesta?

I am a Polymer Clay Artist. I am Australian born of Italian decent. I moved to Italy in 1986 when I married my husband. We live in L’Aquila, near Rome. I have always been an artist at heart and I mastered the art and techniques of creating figurines in Fimo, a polymer clay. My passion became my job when in 1995 I decided to take up polymer clay modeling as my main activity. After a few years of experimenting and creating different kinds of had made creations, my main line of activities became creating personalized cake toppers. This is what I have been doing ever since. Today, 23 years later, I ship my cake toppers anywhere worldwide. I enjoy every moment of this work, I enjoy talking to my Clients and creating their cake toppers.
