Life Lately. Shot nerves, shot teeth, shot flooding issues. But hey! It’s all good. Am I right? Maybe. Ask me again in a few minutes. As I write this there’s men here working on the foundation of our house. There’s certain things they do tell you when they when you’re preparing for the work to be done such as “we’re going to have to break out this concrete” and we’ll use jacks under your house to raise it. What they don’t tell you is that they will use a jackhammer for approximately 9 hours to break through that concrete and the jack under your house will occasionally cause huge booms that give you minor heart attacks. They also don’t mention that your dogs will bark like they’ve lost their minds (one of them is currently relaxing with the help of a banana stuff with benedryl) and that every time they cause a boom or vibration (hello jackhammer), your internet will go down making your home alarm chirp. My. Nerves. Are. Shot. Let’s focus on something better, like these cutie patooties playing basketball at the park.I love all the trees and nature in the area where we live. It’s one of the reasons we moved here.  It’s also why it’s so hard to see it destroyed after Harvey. One of the biggest problems plaguing our area right now following Harvey is the amount of sand left behind from the flood waters. The area that is covered in sand should be water but there’s so much sand left behind that it’s preventing the water from going where it needs to go. That means anytime we get any rain at all, it starts to flood again. This beautiful place now looks like this:It’s sad but there is happy good news. It was announced this week that the state is fast tracking the permitting and study process and that dredging to remove the sand and debris should start in about 8 weeks.  That means that these areas will be able to hold water again before hurricane season starts later this summer. It’s a great thing.  Another good thing? Flowers. Our pastor’s wife has been sick lately.  She’s getting better but a few weeks ago we decided to make something for her from all the kids that come to Wednesday night Awana Club at our church. We knew that she was in love with flowers (a woman after my own heart), so we decided to make her a flower bouquet personalized from all the kids at church. Let me tell you that when we started this project, I envisioned a small little thing that would be nice but I never imagined it would turn into this huge colossal bundle of love.  We die cut a ton of paper flowers out of regular construction paper and some marbled paper that we made with shaving cream . Then we simply gave each child one flower and told them to just write a message. They did an amazing job!  Some of the messages were serious, some were just simply a picture with the child’s name and my favorite said, “if you’re in a chair, get up!”.  After the kids finished their flowers we glued them all onto skewers and arranged them into this terra cotta pot that I’m going to show you how to DIY soon.  It was huge. In fact, it was so big that if you were to turn it around, there’s more flowers on the other side.  From what we heard, she loved it and her family is still finding new flowers to read that they hadn’t seen yet. I’m going to put up the tutorial on how I customized the pot soon!  Are you making things right now? Here’s some of my favorite craft tools that I’ve discovered I love: *contains affiliate links Sharpie Oil Paint Markers – This is what I used on the terra cotta pot. I had never used the Sharpie brand before when it came to paint pens but I really loved these. The coverage is thick but simple to control. Two thumbs up.  Craft Resin – Since I used resin to make the Floating Glitter Pendants , I’m obsessed. I’m looking at ordering different resin molds and I’m going to use it soon to make a glittered stainless steel tumbler.  This week I’m working on another hoop frame wreath to share with you guys!  Don’t forget, you can usually find me every day on Instagram or Facebook !
