3 Things To Know About The 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition
The special edition of the 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible is made more special by Mulliner, Bentley’s own customization division. While there aren’t many great special editions in the market, the Bentley is on another level.
Exterior
The Number 1 Edition isn’t your usual Continental GT Convertible. You have two options to choose from: the Dragon Red II paint finish and the Beluga Black paint finish. But, the colors of the fabric roof can be different from the body so pundits suggest that you choose Dragon Red II for the body and Beluga Black paint for the roof. The Beluga Black paint body can be had with the Claret Red fabric roof.
You can also choose a Black Line Specification package, which brings black trim elements throughout the convertible’s body. You can see this on the door handles, radiator surround, headlamp and rear lamp surround, tailpipe finishers, side window surrounds, wing vents, and the number plate surround.
The 2019 Bentley Continental GT Convertible Number 1 Edition can also come with the carbon body kit and the Bentley Centenary Specification Pack that has Centenary badges.
Interior
The cabin is wrapped in all the luxurious trappings of being a Bentley and a Mulliner. The debossed “B” insignia is on the headrests and door inserts to make sure you will never forget you’re driving a one-of-a-kind Bentley edition. The steering wheel and gear level are clad in Alcantara while the dashboard is exclusive in its Grand Black wood veneer with 18-carat gold plated dials.
Engine
The Continental GT Convertible is already powerful with its 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W-12 engine that generates 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. That power comes through an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive. The car can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds before maxing out at a top speed of 207 mph.
Important Things To Know About The 2019 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid
The 2019 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid will signify the entrance of the luxury carmaker into the world of electrified cars as this happens to be the electrified version of the brand’s first-ever SUV. It is also Bentley’s first hybrid vehicle ever and the world’s first luxury SUV with an electrified powertrain.
The Bentayga Hybrid is identical to the regular Bentayga except for the additional fuel cap that’s allotted for the plug-in socket. The interior’s virtually the same, too, save for new tech and a revised infotainment system for hybrid duty.
Where the Bentayga Hybrid will be different is under the hood where the familiar W-12 and V-8 engines were replaced with a V-6 and an electric motor. The layout for the Bentley Bentayga (meaning, the use of a V-6 engine) is a first for a modern Bentayga. The drivetrain layout was borrowed from the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid and soon, Bentley will be using it across its lineup, including the upcoming Flying Spur Hybrid.
The hybrid version of the Bentayga will produce 456 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. This is far from the impressive numbers that the regular Bentayga makes which is 600 and 542 horsepower for the W-12 and V-8 engines, respectively. In comparison, it generates an extra 27 horses than the diesel version.
The Bentayga Hybrid is quick as it can go 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds. It’s half-second slower compared to other SUVs but the Bentayga is larger both in size and weight. The top speed is limited to 158 mph, which is 10 mph slower than the diesel version and 29 mph slower than the W-12 engine.
Bentley boasts that the Hybrid can go 31 miles on electric charge alone, but that’s measly compared with most hybrid cars in the market. When you need to drive around the city, though, 31 miles can get you to where you need to go, so we guess that’s actually okay.
It will take 7.5 hours to charge the battery to full capacity if you use a domestic household socket. If you have an industrial connection at home, that can go down to just 2.5 hours.
Bentley Commemorates Founder With Mulsanne W.O. Edition By Mulliner
This will be a year of celebration for Bentley as it commemorates the 100 th year since the company’s conception. The celebration started on July 10 and will last throughout the year. The event will be highlighted by the coming of the Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner, which will be limited to only 100 units around the world.
The sedan, which will be available in standard, long wheelbase, and Speed versions, celebrates Bentley founder Walter Owen Bentley and his 1930 8 Litre, the founder’s personal car. The 8 Litre was the last vehicle Bentley designed for the luxury automaker and the second example off the production line. The classic car wore a coach-built body from Henry Jervis Mulliner & Co., the same company that personalizes Bentley cars until this very day.
Walter Owen was not able to enjoy the fruits of his labor and the “ultimate expression of automotive engineering” because financial troubles forced him to sell the company in 1931. In 2006, Bentley bought the 8 Litre and immediately gone through the process of restoration. This means replacing the crankshaft, which is the central feature of the Mulsanne W.O. Edition.
What happened to the old crankshaft? Bentley cut it into 100 pieces and each will be placed inside a custom, illuminated cocktail cabinet that’s located in the rear quarters of the 100 special Mulsanne units. The glass display will be framed by four different kinds of wood and aluminum that create a marquetry scene.
The special edition will also get Heritage Hides in Fireglow with Beluga details and stitching, Dark Stain Burr Walnute veneers, and Fireglow lambswool carpets. The exterior is painted in onyx and features a chrome hood strip, optional chrome grille and surround, and discrete special edition badging. There will also be Beluga Back wheels.
The best thing about owning this car, aside from it being a special edition, is that customers can have their W.O. Edition Mulsannes customized.
The Mulsanne W.O. Edition by Mulliner will be unveiled at the Monterey Car Week in August.

2. Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo
Porsche plans to release the actual Mission E next year as competition in the EV industry heats up. Directly, the Mission E will compete with Tesla and will finally fulfill Porsche’s dream of an all-electric Mission E. The one previewed at the Geneva Motor Show is not the final design yet, but it is closer in design to the actual Mission E than the ones we saw in the past years. According to Porsche, the Mission E will be able to do 0-62mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-125mph in 12 seconds flat.
3. Bentley Bentayga Hybrid
The Bentley Bentayga Hybrid unveiled during the motor show will be the same one that will come rolling off the factories. This is the first hybrid car that Bentley ever created, making sure it’s as special as they come. It has a plug-in system and batteries to power its twin electric motors that are paired with 3.0-liter V6 turbo gasoline engine. As a result, it will only emit 75g/km of carbon dioxide, far less, of course, than the three Bentayga models. The twin electric motors can go up to 30 miles before the gasoline engine kicks in. The batteries, on the other hand, can be fully charged in just 2.5 hours at a high-output charging station.

Bentley is doing the exact same tradition that the likes of Bentayga SUV and Mulsanne did—rolling off a first edition model. That means that the Continental GT First Edition will get plenty of exclusive features that would probably never be available when the line is finally launched.
Some of the exclusive “appointments” that the first edition 2018 Bentley Continental GT will have are fancy rotating displays, veneer options, and model-specific cosmetic identifiers. All of these help cement the grand tourer’s special edition status.

2. Rotating Display
The central feature of the 2018 Bentley Continental GT First Edition is the rotating display. The feature lets you switch through three different fascia panels, depending on your mood. The standard configuration is the 12.3-display, but you can also go for the more classical look of three analog dials or a veneer-only fascia that appears only when the car is not running.
3. Unique Contrast Stitching
Another feature that is limited to the First Edition is the diamond-in-diamond quilt stitching on the seats, the door panels, and the rear quarter panels. There’s also a unique contrast stitching available only for the First Edition. Aside from these, Bentley also partnered with Mulliner for a unique driving specification package that includes alloy foot pedals, jewel-finish oil and filler caps, and a set of 22-inch wheels that are available in bright paint, black, hand polished, or full polish finishes.
4 Things To Know About The 2019 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
The Bentley Continental range is getting an upgrade. First, we’ll have the updated version of the GT coupe, then followed by the GT convertible, and finally, the Flying Spur sedan. The latter is due in 2019, though there is no specific date as of now.
But for the first time ever, we are treated with spy shots of the next Flying Spur in action. This first glance is enough to tell us we can expect a lot of great things from the next Flying Spur.
1. Exterior
The overall exterior design has evolved from the previous one. The main elements of the upgrade can be found on the lights—the headlights have a larger inner and smaller outer lights. This is the opposite of the current design.
On the sides, the lower and upper character lines give an entirely new facade while on the rear end, the taillights are taller and don’t wrap around the sides anymore. The license plate cutout moved also from the trunk to the bumper.
2. Platform
Same with the other Continental GT range, the Flying Spur will use elements of Porsche engineering. It will be based on Volkswagen Group’s MSB platform, which was specifically designed for large, rear- and all-wheel-drive cars with engines at the front.
Developed by Porsche, the platform is being used by the 2017 Panamera. The MSB Platform uses high-strength steel and aluminum for aerodynamics and rigidity purposes.
3. Drivetrain
The current Continental GT has an upgraded 6.0-liter W-12 that can produce 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. It also has a stop-start function. The same engine will be fitted in the Flying Spur. A twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine that can produce 500 horsepower is also expected.
Bentley said that plug-in hybrids will also be offered for all of their vehicles. There’s only one transmission available for all variants–an 8-speed automatic and an all-wheel drive system.
4. Other Features
The Flying Spur will host a number of great features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, an instrument panel display developed from the Audi virtual cockpit, LED matrix headlights, a three-chamber air suspension, and a 48-volt anti-roll control system that uses electronic actuators on the anti-roll bars.

How will you make the 2017 Bentley Mulsanne better? German tuner Mansory has a history of outlandish designs courtesy of the Siracusa kits for the Ferraris, the Carbonado kits for the Lamborghini, and the Bentley Continental Vitesse Rose in 2009.
The Mulsanne is a massive project but if you’re expecting to see equally an outlandish tuning program, you’ll be sorely disappointed. Mansory, for the first time, decided to go another route based on a report by TopSpeed .
1. Exterior
The exterior update on the Bentley Mulsanne is made up of an aerodynamic kit that features a new front lip and air inlet covers. There are new side skirts, new rear lip spoiler, and a diffuser insert placed at the back. All of these are made with carbon fiber, though the most stunning upgrade on this particular section of the car are the massive M8 light-forged aluminum alloy wheels. They are 22 inches and wrapped in high-performance tires that measure 285/35ZR22 in the front and rear axles.
2. Interior
Mansory did not give hints on how it treated the interiors of the Mulsanne, though they are very specific with the materials they used on it like premium leather, Alcantara materials, brushed aluminum, carbon, handcrafted embroidery, and piano surfaces.
3. Drivetrain
In the past, Mansory was responsible for the 800 horsepower output of the Ferrari 488 Spyder and the 1,600 horses from the Lamborghini Aventador. You think the tuner would bring the same power to Mulsanne? Based on the tuning program, the Mulsanne will only up its horsepower by 73 ponies, bringing in a total of 585 horsepower. It will also add 49 pound-feet of torque for a total of 811 pound-feet of torque.
4. Pricing
There are no pricing details for the Mansory-tuned Mulsanne, though we expect the base model to start at $300,000 with the tuning program adding a $50,000 price tag.
5. Competition
It’s difficult to pinpoint a direct competitor of the Bentley Mulsanne. Cars like these are usually a cut above the rest. Perhaps, the closest competitor is another tuning program—that of the Mulliner, Bentley’s own personalization division.

Bentley just showcased the Bentayga Mulliner at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show. The luxury sport utility vehicle is highlighted by its high level of customization and powerful engine within its hood. Its maker said the production of the auto will only be limited.

What’s even better than having a Bentley Continental? A Continental Supersports, that’s what. Bentley had just taken the covers off its Continental Supersports, which is slated for the 2017 model year. This is the automaker’s most powerful and fastest four-seater luxury car.
Here are the top features of the new Bentley Continental Supersports:
1. Speed And Power
Let’s talk about speed first, since this is what Bentley has been boasting about the Supersports. The Continental Supersports packs a massive 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces 700 horsepower and 750 pounds-feet of torque. That is 70 horsepower and 130 pounds-feet of torque more than what it currently churns out.
That power can boost the Supersports from 0 to 60 mph in just a matter of 3.4 seconds, or so Bentley said. This has never been tested. With the convertible, that time stretches to 3.7 seconds. Still, not bad, right? Top speed is 209 mph for the coupe and 205 for the drop-top convertible.
Worried about braking on time? Don’t be. The Supersports’ braking power is coming from a 16.5-inch carbon-ceramic brakes at front and 14-inch brakes at the rear.

Thanks to higher-capacity turbochargers, as well as a revised intercooling system, the Supersports’ engine can handle more power. Mercedes-AMG GT 4 vs 2018 Porsche Panamera vs 2018 Bentley Continental GT

Since Mercedes is celebrating the 50 th anniversary of its AMG division, it’s safe to assume that a new Vision concept will soon be unveiled. Reportedly, it is going to be a high-performance four-door super saloon that would be pitted against the likes of the 2018 Porsche Panamera and the 2018 Bentley Continental GT.
Mercedes GT 4
For now, the rumored Mercedes-AMG GT 4 is codenamed X290 until its supposed unveiling in 2019. Reports are saying that the super car will be powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine. It is scheduled to hit the market sometime in 2019 with a starting price of $148,000. The model will be based on the same Mercedes architecture and platform that are being used on the C 63, E 63, S 63 AMG variants.
There will be two versions of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine available to the market. The range-topping S 4MATIC+ variant will be able to produce more than 600 horsepower. There are also plans to use an integrated starter generator to complement the V-8 engine.
None of these details have been confirmed yet since these are all concept of the GT 4 for now.
2018 Porsche Panamera
The new Panamera ushered in a new exterior and interior designs, a new engine lineup, and plenty of tech goodies such as LED headlights, safety assistance systems, an innovative chassis system, a 21-speaker Burmester 3D sound system, and plenty of personalization options.
It currently has two models—the Panamera 4S with a 2.9-liter, twin-turbo V-6 that can produce 440 horsepower; and the Panamera Turbo with a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V-8 engine that churns out 550 horsepower.
2018 Bentley Continental GT
The rumored updates for the 2018 Continental GT aren’t much, except for tweaked styling on the exterior, a new V-8 engine, and an upgraded interior. It apparently packs the shortened version of Porsche’s MSB platform, though the higher-end model will reportedly have a 6.0-liter, W-12 engine. No official word on that, though.
