Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Has The Stuff Speed Lovers Only Dream About
While Dodge has put an end to the insane Challenger SRT Demon that only had a limited production, it now has the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye. It’s not as powerful as the 840 horses that the Demon had, but it received many of the same upgrades as its twin.
There are going to be two models for the car: the SRT Hellcat and the SRT Hellcat Redeye. Focusing a bit on the Redeye variant, it will have 797 horsepower (the regular Hellcat only has 717 horses) and 707 pound-feet of torque. It is an insanely powerful machine that is challenging the limits to what’s legal on the road.
The power of the Hellcat Redeye comes from a 6.2-liter V-8 engine. Now that the Demon has been laid to rest, the Redeye is the “most powerful production V-8,” Dodge said. The Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye can go from 0 to 60 mph in under 3.4 seconds. It can also reach 131 mph in just a quarter mile time of 10.8 seconds.
Other details include a larger 2.7-liter supercharger, up to 14.5 psi, a higher redline (up to 6,500 rpm), and dual-stage fuel pumps. There’s also going to be a new dual-snorkel hood and an Air Catcher headlamp on the driver’s side of the fascia.
There are other upgrades that separate the Hellcat Redeye from the Demon, though. There’s going to be a Widebody Package for Challenger R/T Scat Pack models. The package will give the muscle car an extra 3.5 inches of width, a plus-sized six-pot front brakes from Brembo, extra wide wheels and tires, and a new suspension.
Production of the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye will begin this fall and deliveries will start by the fourth quarter. There will be no limits to the production of the Redeye, unlike the Demon.
Will There Be a New Dodge Viper?
The Dodge Viper is probably one of the most iconic cars of our generation. With its production tracing back from 1992 to 2010 and then making a comeback in 2012, it was sad to see it go last year. So, during the recent interview of Fiat Chrysler Automotive CEO Sergio Marchionne, he was asked if there are plans to revive the sports car.
Based on Marchionne’s statement, the future of the Viper remains bleak. He said that the Viper cannot stand on its own because it needs to share its architecture. Then, it needs a platform specifically designed to house its American engine. Another factor holding back the return of the sports car was its low sales volume.
With that, the rumors about the sixth-generation Dodge Viper were doused. It was previously speculated that there were plans for the new model to ditch its V10 engine in favor of a new naturally-aspirated V8. The unit will be able to produce 558 hp for its base trim and up to 710 hp for its range-topping trim. Reports claimed too that the upcoming Viper will get a lighter platform, but it will retain its distinctive shape as well as its front-engine and rear-drive set-up.
For now, it appears that the fate of the Viper has been sealed though.
Dodge Continuing the Charger and Challenger
Despite the heartbreaking developments about the Viper, Dodge will go on with its Charger and Challenger models. Marchionne said that the two will get an upgraded architecture.
The FCA CEO noted that they will likely continue using the Giorgio platform for the cars. However, the architecture needs an upgrade to make the models more competitive. He hinted that by the time they are finished reworking the current platform, we might not be able to recognize it from its origins.

The Mopar four forged aluminum wheels each measure 20 x 11 inches. These are similar to the stock wheels of the Hellcat Widebody. The rims are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero all-season 305/35ZR20 tires. Moreover, these include tire pressure sensors. The pricing of the wheels is not available yet.

Which one wins if you put the Honda Civic Type R against the Dodge Challenger Hellcat? Well, this one is a no-brainer since the Hellcat is such a beast on the road.
Recently, the two were pitted against each other on the track. A father and son duo were seen racing the two cars in a YouTube video by The Fast Lane Car channel.

First off, the Hellcat possesses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. The unit screams 707 hp. On the other hand, the Honda Civic Type R has a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. That delivers a measly 306 hp.

The fast lap was a different story because while the Hellcat took the straight road easily, it struggled on bends. The Hellcat finished the lap in 1 minute and 12 seconds.
When it was the Civic Type R’s turn, it appeared more agile at corners as it smoothly cruised its way on track. The total time of the car was 1 minute and 8 seconds. That was 4 seconds faster than the Hellcat’s lap time.

The SRT Demon features significant changes compared to the Hellcat. Under the hood of the car lies a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. It may be the same as the unit carried by the Hellcat but the Demon offers significant improvement thanks to its new pistons, rods, supercharger, valve train and fuel injection system.

Spy Shots Of 2018 Dodge Challenger ADR Leaked
Dodge will create a wide-body SRT Hellcat based on these spy shots of a 2018 Dodge Challenger ADR. Positioned above the SRT Hellcat, this new range-topping Challenger has recently been spotted testing on Michigan roads ahead of a likely 2017 market launch, making it an entry for the 2018 model year.
The prototypes sighted are wearing standard body panels but the protruding rubber can still be clearly seen. There is simply no mistaking that this new Challenger is going to have a wide and sexy body.
The photos weren’t properly zoomed in because the poor weather hinders so, but the tires are definitely wider than the tiny 275/40-size set currently on the SRT Hellcat.
There were previous rumors that the 315s would be fitted on this model, but that’s a conservative estimate judging by these spy shots. In the industry, the car with the biggest rubber is the Dodge Viper, which is fitted with the massive 355/30-size tires at the rear.
Dodge hinted of a wide-body Challenger back when it first introduced the Challenger GT AWD concept at the 2015 SEMA show. The concept consists of an all-wheel drive system from the Dodge Charger though there’s only a 5.7-liter V-8 similar to the Fiat Chrysler.
Speculations have been pointing out that there will be two wide-body options for the Challenger, though it is also possible that more will come. The first two options might be an all-wheel drive car with an entry-level 3.6-liter V-6 and a high-performance car with the Hellcat supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 and rear-wheel drive.
The high-performance car is the new model, expected to be called the Challenger ADR (American Drag Racer). It is a rear-wheel drive with extra rubber to help put the Hellcat’s hellish power. The current model can produce 707 horsepower, though that can easily be bumped up.
This model is expected to be the final hurrah for the current Challenger before a redesigned model is introduced.
