Building Department

The Building Department is responsible for reviewing and issuing all Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, Gas, and Electrical Permits. Zoning compliance and code enforcement issues are also addressed by this department.

Notes

• Applications for Building Permits can be downloaded from this website, and submitted via walk-in, fax, or mail We cannot process applications or accept payments online.
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted or held. Please submit all required paperwork together. Please include the owner's signature or copy of the signed contract, insurance certificates, license copies, plans, and department sign-offs (when applicable).
• New houses: res-check, plot plan, engineered plan for beams, Lvls, trusses
• Electrical permits must be obtained for pool installations and AC/Mechanical
• Hvac: New and replacements require a Manual J and pressure test for ductwork.
• Building permits are required for bathroom and kitchen reno only when any type of framing is involved, removing/replacing sheetrock, replacing or adding windows/doors.
• Fences: no permit required. The Town does not provide the services of surveying property lines.
• Sheds: 200 Square feet + permit required. Under 200 square feet no permit needed. 120 square feet + 15 feet setback required. Under 120 square feet 5 feet setback is required.
