Gulf Medical University is celebrating 20 years of Excellence and has grown phenomenally in a span of two decades with a vision to be a leading international Academic Health System through the integration of health professions education, research and healthcare services, maintaining our core niche in the health sector.

GMU offers accredited health professions education programs in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, nursing, public health, health sciences etc. with the outcome competencies aligned to International Competency Frameworks and National Qualification Frameworks at appropriate levels. Our qualified and experienced faculty are our main strength and serve as facilitators and mentors to our culturally diverse student population.

The Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine, Thumbay Institute of Population Health and the Thumbay Institute of Health Workforce Development are the three ‘Centers of Excellence’ which serves as hubs of graduate research and continuous professional development activities. Our infrastructure facilities are on par with international standards which includes the state-of-the-art Simulation Center, Research facility, Innovation Center, Testing Center etc. that provides an ideal environment for students and faculty to nurture life-long learning.

Our uniqueness is that we own our clinical training facilities like a chain of JCI accredited Thumbay Hospitals, Thumbay Clinics, CAP-accredited Thumbay Labs and Thumbay Pharmacies. This has enabled us to embed our students across all programs into the work-place environment early and thus provide ample clinical exposure, and at another level, employ our graduates in our own facilities, setting us apart from our peers.

GMU has partnered with some of the leading and reputed international institutions to offer collaborative programs, conduct high-end research, and facilitate student exchanges and elective placements. Majority of our 1400+ alumni are employed in the country with many others distributed throughout the world, thus contributing to the health and knowledge economy of the country and the world at large.
