What We Know So Far About The 2020 Lincoln Aviator

The 2020 Lincoln Aviator is borrowing some design elements from its wildly successful sibling, the Navigator , and will put a gap from a related cousin from Ford, the 2020 Explorer . Ford’s luxury brand hopes to recapture some of its glory days and banks in on the highly popular crossover segment.

The Aviator will fill the slot between the Nautilus and the Navigator. It’s an all-new model that is still decidedly Lincoln on the exterior with a cabin that’s a styling evolution from the Navigator.

Lincoln unveiled how the Aviator’s interior will look like during the LA Auto Show and to say that it’s mesmerizing is an understatement. It closely resembles what you’ll find inside the Navigator and there’s no doubt that the vehicle came from Lincoln. To be fair, Lincoln only introduced the priciest Black Label model, which has unique color schemes, extra leather trim, and truly represent the car in its most luxurious form.

The 2020 Aviator will come standard with a 10-inch touchscreen displayed prominently atop the dashboard. It brings the Ford Sync 3 and includes some other tech such as 4G in-car WiFi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio and two USB ports.

The Reserve trim adds a 14-speaker Revel sound system and integrated navigation, plus a 360-degree parking camera while the Black Label boosts it with rear USB ports and a 28-speaker Revel Ultima audio system.

The Aviator is a people-hauler, too. When the second row has bench seats, it has room for seven people. When the captain seats are used for the second row, the car has enough space for six adults. And since it shares a platform with the 2020 Ford Explorer, we expect the cargo to be the best in its segment, along with the Volvo XC90 and the Acura MDX.

This car will come standard with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. It will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive is optional.

For an upgraded powertrain that adds a plug-in hybrid that makes 450 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, you have to go up to the Aviator Grand Touring model.
